Goodbyes & a party

Our friends Ben & Mandy were about to leave the island after their time here in the military. They were going to have their last meal with us. I made them Sweet Pork burritos and Crepe cake for dessert.
We curled some hair with tin foil. I'll explain that later. So cool!
We visited, played some games and after Lydia went to bed two other couples came over to play games as well. It was a bittersweet night. Mandy and Ben have been such great people to know. I hope our paths cross again someday. Lydia adored Ben, he was so genuine and good to her. They are expecting their first baby in June,
Sister Matisima's mission was ending and they came over to say goodbye. She is heading back to the island of Chuuke and I know she is going to do great things with her life. Love her. (far right)
It was a Sunday night, I was in my pajamas and we heard Christmas carolers singing outside our door. It was this fun bunch. Man, we sure love them. They wanted pictures with us and to say goodbye  (just incase they were all getting transferred the next day) so I threw on the first dress in my closet. Elder Wright, Kata, Holmes and Sister Misinale have been here in our area for 5-6 months now. We've gotten to know them all really well.
Lewis likes to help me tuck Lydia in bed at time. One night we found him IN her bed. Silly cat.

Lydia had a bad fever for a day or two and then her ear started bothering her. I took her in to the Doctor and she had a really awful ear infection. She took it easy and stayed home from school. We read, did hair, watched movies and Lewis was by her side the entire time.

We hosted a party for 9 year old Mayleen. We've gotten to know her well and she's been in our home to play. Her Dad lost his job, they don't live on a safe street and she's let me know that her birthday is coming up lots of times. At first we decided we would make her a cake, a princess barbie cake. But then I decided it might be more fun to have her over for cake instead. So we invited over some kids she knows that live on our street to join us. We picked up Mayleen and her brother (her 3 sisters weren't home) and we brought them to the party.

I kept it simple, we played a few games on the lawn.
We Kissed the Frog with lipstick, its like pin the tail on the donkey, only you use your lips instead. ha ha. (The sister missionaries have been working with Mayleen and her family so they stopped by.)
It started raining so we call ran in for some cake.
Then the rain stopped and we played outside for the rest of the time. Phew.
Mayleen went home happy and with some new presents so I know she was thrilled.
The following day, after I washed and dried all of these blankets from the party I made a fort for Lydia. It doesn't take much to put a smile on her face.
