Where were you…

the night David was murdered?

I , Jenny, was at a fundraising function, when I came home I saw mud on my husbands tires, blood on the steering wheel and I did my best to cover up his murder. I didn’t want all of my hard work to go to waste, he was on his way to being elected Governor of our State nothing was going to stop him.

Ok, I’ll stop now….you get the point, we had a lot of fun at the Walser’s murder mystery dinner party. We were attending an OU Alumni party and had lots to figure out before the night was through. I have to add that lots of my friends are dang good at acting too. Who knew!

We left her with the Taylors and made it a date night, so she’s not in the picture.

A little bit O celebration.

For FHE last week we went for a walk around OU campus. It was fun to hear stories about Tyson's school semesters here and as we walked he showed me what building his classes had been in. It is a beautiful campus. We parked at the Institute and made our way to the football field. We have lived here for 2 seasons and I still have yet to see a game from the stadium. I loved the view from the top. Norman is so green and beautiful right now.

To help us celebrate Tyson's graduation we went to dinner with the Goepferts in OKC. Tyson chose a Rib Place in Brick Town. It was a beautiful night so after we ate we wandered a bit, saw some horses, some ducklings and then explored through a Fish/sporting goods store. The kids had a blast and it was fun for us adults too.

I tackled this {secret} project in one week and I couldn't have done it that fast or had as much fun doing it without Sharon & Dawn who helped me sew and tie till all hours of the night.

Lacrosse Game

Photobucket

We had the Walser's over to thank Carlin for teaching Tyson's Seminary class for him while he was away for his Grandpa's funeral and after our meal we ventured across the street to watch some OU Lacrosse.

It was FREEZING out! We were all snuggling under blankets and with kids on our lap to try and stay a little warm. We stayed until Ms. Lillian had had enough and left our husbands + Dave Hale & Barry to cuddle on their man date. Ha ha.

They guys went to a free movie on campus afterwards, [Tron]. Don't think they were very impressed, but they still had fun.

I stayed home, put Lydia to bed and dyed my hair, all by myself....eeeek, so scary. I bought all the professional stuff from Heather, my sister who is a stylist and I went for it. Turned out great, got rid of my gray and matched my natural color really well. Yep, I am in my twenties and already have gray hairs. Ah!

Snow Days of 2011

During the end of January and the beginning of Feb we had 2 snow storms. Nobody here know's how to drive in the snow so things pretty much shut down and people stay put until the snow & ice melt. We did a lot of nothing, Tyson practiced his guitar, I did some sewing....we watched lots of movies, took naps, went for walks, built 2 snowmen & did a few crafts called (Shrinky Dinks) that the Catherine's sent us from France. One afternoon we ventured out in the freezing cold to go to a free OU mens basketball game. They won! Yay! Lydia occupied herself with games. She is getting good at sorting & seriation. Check out those pictures. She calls them her "work" and she does spend a lot of time on them. :)

During the 2nd snow storm we thought it would be more fun to be stuck inside with friends so the Goepferts invited us over to their house for a sleepover. We stayed up till 2 a.m. playing games, Barry made us breakfast, we visited and then when the kids took a nap we played some Settlers...a huge version, it was pretty intense.

Fancy Nancy necklace I made for Lydia. You draw pictures on special paper and then cook it in the oven, it shrinks down to this and turns hard. Thank you Marie!!! :)

Day 12 A photo of the place you live

...and a few facts about Norman because you know you are just dying to know. :)
  • Population:115,876 residents
  • 3rd Largest city in Oklahoma after Oklahoma City & Tulsa
  • City founded in 1889
  • Home to the University of Oklahoma
  • LDS Church- 1 stake & 5 wards
  • Closest temple: 45 miles away
  • 2 High Schools (Norman High & Norman North High)
  • 1 mall, 2 Wal-marts & a Target
  • and lots of super friendly people!!!!
Norman lies within Tornado Alley and has severe weather season from March through August (with peak activity in April & June).

We are going on DAY 4 of all the schools being canceled in our city, so no seminary teaching or classes for Tyson...and it looks like we might be expecting some more snow in a few days. Don't know how I feel about that.

I took this picture from the tallest building on campus. Earlier post about that day...scroll all the way down to the bottom to see more pictures of Norman. :)

OU Gymnastics part-tay

Maya is a precious little girl that is in my ward, her favorite thing about Primary according to her Birthday survey was "SISTER GOODRICH" awwww....melt my heart. She invited us to her 5th Birthday party at the OU Gymnastic training facility.

I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of her.

How did her parents get such access to such an exclusive place??? Her Dad is a coach and an TWO TIME Olympic Gold Medalist. His is from Ukraine and was in 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics! How freakin' cool is that!!!! I believe one of his medal was on the parallel bars and the other was a team gold. I love gymnastics!!! It is one of my many favorites of the Olympics.

Lydia was a little natural at the gym. I think I will put her in gymnastics when she gets a little bit older and as for me....well, I had as much fun as half the primary that was invited too. I was jumping into pits, walking across beams....it was a terribly FUN afternoon!!!

Now see these shorts...ALL the OU girls wear them, they wear them to class Tyson says, and I see them running in them, at the grocery stores, the mall...they are quite the fad. They even wear them in the winter with leggings underneath.

We live across the street from OU's Girls soccer field, Tennis courts, adjacent to the baseball field and around the corner from the basketball arena....and we LOVE watching sports.

This week we ventured over to watch some woman's tennis, Tyson played in HS for the Woods cross team and he bought me my very own racket when we started dating. It is something we enjoy doing together. The girls were awesome....can't wait to check out the men's talent next time.
