Faux Waterfall Headband Braid

I was invited to my friend Lisa's surprise party/lunch with a other few ladies. I wanted to do something fun with my hair and this is what came from it. It was so easy and I love how it turned out.

I followed this tutorial.

Fancy Pigtails

Here is a fancy way to jazz up some every day pigtails.
I saw an image of this with no tutorial so I just copied the weaving pattern.
It is not as complicated as it appears.

Next time I do this I am going to braid the strands of hair to add some more texture.
I think they could be really pretty.

Or instead of curling the hair I could put them into little messy buns.

I used a little of Tyson's hair gel on each of the strands to prevent fly aways.

The best part of this hair style is that it lasted 3 days without coming out.

Creative Hair for Creative Dance

We found a cute hairstyle to try for Lydia's Creative Dance class last week.
It took about 15 minutes to do but it was easy to do.

Hair 5.0

Lydia and I still enjoy hair tutorials on You Tube. She asked for this first style. It is a Elsa's Hair style on Coronation day. If you've seen Frozen more than once you know what I'm talking about. Link here
I loved this up do. It is elegant and simple. Double Twist bun. Link here.
We used a Topsy Tail to whip up this style.
This one is more for teenage girls or would be a pretty bride style....we tried it anyways. Link here
One more shot of the Minnie Mouse buns. More over here.

Minnie Mouse Buns

I turned these girls into Minnie Mouse with a new hairstyle.
They thought it was silly.
I think they are silly.
Wouldn't you agree?

They are wearing their swim suits and cover ups.
On the same day we met up with some friends at the local indoor pool.

Minnie Mouse bun tutorial here.

Straw Curls

I learned a new technique for doing straw curls.

You wrap the hair around a bendy straw and then tie the two ends together.
It is so simple and the result is gorgeous.

I spray the hair with a little bit of water. If you want to take the time you can add some gel too.
I leave them in for a few hours and then they are ready to go.

I have let her sleep with them in a time or two. I tie a scarf around her head so its soft while she's sleeping. It doesn't bother her.

To take out the straws you loosen them a bit and pull the straw out.
Don't unwrap the hair or they will get too frizzy.

The best thing about this hair is it lasts for a few days.

Hair 5.0

I've been easily finding fun new hairstyles to try on Lydia.
I keep thinking I will run out of ideas...and then I find more and more.

My goal is to and take 100 favorite photo's and then either compile them into a book or print them and put them in a picture collage frame for the bathroom. I am almost there. I think. I need to go count again.

This is a mini triple bun.
Spring is here!!!

Double braid tie back.

Double twist pig tails for church. I don't miss that snow. Brrr.

Upside down elastic pony tails.

This one was complicated....and it didn't stay in to well. I will try again.
I also don't remember what it was called. I like the look though.

Cute face!!!

Double mini braid buns. I loved her wavy hair...this is a favorite of mine.

Pancake side braid into a side pony tail. Courtney can pose like nobody's business!

Another Courtney style. Fish tail braid . (Not perfect...but has lots of character.)

I added some pink yarn to this fish tail to give it a pop of color. Tutorial here.

Another pancake side braid. Link here.

This one is my new favorite. I tried it on Court. You pull the hair in like your doing a french braid....but instead of braiding you tie the hair in knots. SOOO easy.
Google knotted braid tutorials and you'll find lots of links.

 Lace headband braid.

Side pony tail. She requests this often. I loved this style in the 80's.

Knotted braid on Lydia. Loving it!

Caught her using the Dingle hopper the other day! Silly girl!

Hair 4.0

Tyson tells Lydia that if she eats her fruits and vegetables that her hair will grow long like Rapunzel. It is not completely a lie.....it is working....because that hair of hers is finally growing. This is the first time I ever did her hair. (August 2009, Oklahoma). I was in heaven. Aren't those the cutest piggies?

Here are a few more hairstyles we've been trying!
Easy Double Dutch braids.

Left over hair from the Double Dutch braids.

Fish tail pull backs.

Knotted braids on Lydia and Courtney. Link Here.
Knotted braids.

Regular braids, with one piece that is smaller than the others. Link here.

5 Strand braid. (You tube 5 strand braid to learn how.)

Bow Braid. (Lots of variations of this out there. I love this one!)

It's always a good day when your cousin leaves her dress up
clothes at your house and you get to dress like Snow White.

Waterfall Twist.

This ones doesn't have a name....but it uses a lot of little elastics
and I love the look. It always lasts a few days.

Double Stacked braid. Link here. (Will try again when her hair is a little thicker.)

A Dutch flower braid. Link Here.

Half up pony with a new bow!

I made a whole slew of them! Here are a few of my favorites.

Pattern:
Start with a slip knot.
Chain 25.
Skip 3 and Double Crochet 23.
Chain 3, don't skip, DC 25.
Fold into thirds.
Wrap with yarn until it resembles a cute little bow.
Use a glue gun to secure or tie a good knot.
Fasten to an alligator hair clip.
