The prairies in Southern Alberta are beautiful. It is one of the only places in the world where prairie meet mountain and it is breathtaking.
We took a stroll up the lane while Lydia played with Camellia's boys.
The famous Old Chief in the distance.
Camellia and Doug took us to their property where they will eventually build a beautiful home and life. This is the road they have been busy working on.
This is one of their views. Amazing!
Then we followed them into Waterton National Park.
We ate some yummy lunch provided by Camellia and then threw some rocks in the lake all while trying not to blow away. ;)
Cute Mom mistake. Camellia mixed up the boys jackets. Ha ha.
I love this shot.
The best kind of skipping rocks.
I got to meet Liam for the first time. We were buddies by the end of the day.
When our husbands took off hiking up to Big Bertha Lake Camellia and I took to the kids on our own adventures. (Tyson took some great photos on their hike but I have yet to get my hands on them.)
First to the falls and then to the park.
Cameron Falls.
Later on we drove up to Cameron Lake.
We started hiking around the lake and then I stopped to read this sign. Eeeek! I love Bears but only from a distance. We turned around and headed back to the truck. Ha ha. Am I a woos or what?
This tree looked like it had been clawed by a bear!
Liam and Sterling got in a good nap on the trip.
Lydia and Sterling had great fun together.
All day and night the sky looked like it was going to open up and dump on us. It took us a while to commit to actually setting up camp for the night but we finally did.
The threatening clouds never left but it never rained either.
Before heading to church the following morning we stopped by Prince of Wales hotel.
Following church we ate a picnic in the camp kitchen provided by Aunt Beverly. Tyson is still talking about this meal.
She made baked chicken, (that tasted fried), corn on the cob, salad, angel food cake and her famous buns.
We did some more exploring. It was starting to sprinkle on us but we decided to hike down in Red Rock Canyon regardless. Tyson had never been here before and it is so beautiful and I knew he would love it.
Lydia was scaling walls, climbing steep slopes, jumping from rock to rock, wading in deep water...and all in a dress.
The mountain water was crystal clear and refreshing as could be!
I love the white stripes on the sides of the canyon walls.
We followed Aunt Bev & Uncle Richard to their farm at the end of the day. The entire time we were wishing we were in the same vehicle so they could tell us all about all the beautiful towns, farms and fields we drove by along they way. We did pass the largest farm in all of Alberta. It had about 18 combines. We thought it was a combine supply store until Aunt Bev told us differently. It was amazing!
