Canada Part 3- The Farm (and an afternoon in Calgary)

Reason 1 of 982 why I love the farm. Because it is the only place I have left in my life where I can go and stay and have childhood memories come soaring back. My parents have moved from my childhood homes....and my Grandparents have all passed on and we can no long go inside their homes.....am I making any sense. I grew up coming here to play on the farm and Lydia got to come and experience the farm like I did. It was wonderful!!!

Reason 5: This view.
Reason 8: Lad the Dog.

Reason number 2: Aunt Bev
The red barn (and the best photo bombing dog alive....I think he is is 95% of all the pictures I took.)

We had a fire every night we spent of the farm. We roasted food over the fire and stayed up visiting.

Tyson & Lydia cuddling in the dark.
We headed to Calgary to run some errands and see some cousins the following day:

Elva doesn't know me but when we got to her house in Calgary and she woke up from her nap I scooped her up in my arms and I needed to love on this girl. She went through unimaginable trials this year and they almost lost her. I spent days and days praying for her and seeing her well was a joy.
We ate lunch together, Katherine and I took a walk to get in a visit and then we had to be on our way.
Here she is with her two precious kiddo's. She is such a beautiful and talented Momma. They are lucky to have her!

On our way out of the city we stopped to meet Baby Baylor Gainor. He was perfect beyond words.

Uncle Richard on the porch with two of his buddies.

We concocted a plan to paint a Canadian Flag on one of the grain bins.
Aunt Bev bought the paint and we went to work. It was a lot of fun. We made sure to document as we went.

Lydia was thrilled when the cows finally came up for some water.
I love cows. I wonder what I earth they were thinking. Ha ha.

I don't want to know what this bull was thinking. Ha ha ha ha ha!
Lydia thought she was cool stuff when Camellia let her pull a carrot from the garden to feed to the horse, Danny.
Tyson did too when he free styled a maple leaf onto the grain bin.

Tyson took a few shots from a distance to see how it was progressing.

Aunt Sharan and Dawson (spell?) joined us for a day at the farm. It was so good to visit with her and Lydia loved having a playmate.

They got tired of retrieving the bean bags so they turned Sterling into their little servant. Poor kid.
After a while he got freaked out by the clown and had a melt down. Poor kid.

We explored Grandma Smiths old home and found a few treasures.
I opened up a trunk and saw this. Camellia painted it. Isn't is precious!
I remember sitting in this upstairs bathroom and Grandma Smith braiding my hair into two french braids. She loved my long straight hair and always told me so.

The cows down in the field entertained the little ones.

After a few coats we finally finished the flag!

I am pleased with how it turned out. I think it looks great!

Aunt Sharan with all the kiddos.

This kid. Ha ha. He cracks me up! I can't get enough of him.
Aunt Bev & Uncle Richard. Lad and the Cat wanted in the shot too. :)

We headed home the following day. It wasn't what I would call perfect traveling conditions. We were stopped at the border for Tyson not having a passport. (Long and great story), Lydia threw up....bleh, and we hit a lot more rain along the way. But we made it home and it was totally worth every minute we got to spend in Canada with the family we love so much.

I think I took enough pictures to hold me over until we meet again!
Thank you all for having us, cooking for us, for all the fun visiting....etc! We love you all and miss you already.
