Traveling to Canada was on the top of my summer list this year. We are moving to Guam in the fall and although I know we will get to come back to visit the States during the few years we are away I don't know when the next chance we will get to head to Canada.
The three of us love road trips and being in the car together. Our trip to Helena, Montana was an adventure as we went through some nasty weather.
But after the storms came a rainbow and it followed us for miles.
Staying in a hotel is magical for little people. I remember loving them when I was little. Is it the pool? The little fridge? Big beds? Yummy breakfast? Or perhaps all of the above.
Her Daddy loves her and took her swimming again the next day before we hit the road.
Who needs a diving board when you have a Dad.
This bright green meadow was a beautiful sight. Tyson turned the car around so we could get a better look.
Lydia is a great traveler....she eats, watches movies, plays with toys and still naps (at almost age 6.)
Tyson drove the entire way.
At one point into our trip we were driving into outer darkness.
We had a random detour on a dirt road that we couldn't stop laughing about.
Cardston sure looked inviting. ;)
Once we arrived in Cardston we settled in, ate a delicious meal made by Aunt Peggy (complete with Tabor corn) and Miranda & Carlee joined us too. We sang to Amy and enjoyed some of her birthday cake and then we took off on a "tour" of Cardston. (Just for Lydia)
Our first stop was the cemetery. She was very confused that her Granddads name was on the gravestone and that he is still alive.
My Grandma & Grandpa Woolf are buried here in the Cardston cemetery. It is a beautiful location.
I miss them.
Two cute little calves got out of their pen so we had to go and say hello.
Tyson showed Lydia how they suck on your hand.
Next stop was the Remington Carriage center to see the famous statue of one of my relatives, George Woolf who was a famous Jockey.
His horse was named Sea Biscuit. Have you heard of him? They produced a movie all about his story in 2003. Check it out here.
He missed the mini horse chuck wagon races but we attended the meet and greet afterwards.
Then Lydia fed the horse some grass. Lots of grass.
My sweet cousin Amy.
Our second to last stop was the Cardston temple....Lydia ran to the temple.
We swung by Grandma & Grandpa Woolf's old home. Lydia loved that it was Yellow!
I loved this new 5 dollar bill. So cool and see through!
Our beautiful evening together ended with Tyson locking the keys in the car (at a park.) We would still be stuck in Cardston if it wasn't for Uncle Ross. (Cardston doesn't have a locksmith.) I think Uncle Ross could start a business though. He's genius. He got us in our car using a crowbar, cardboard, a hanger, brains and a lot of muscle. He saved the day!!!
My night wasn't over yet. I stayed up figuring out passport stuff....yes, I am still Canadian and I still have yet to get my Canadian passport before they are going to allow me to move to Guam. We are working on it.... it is quite the process compared to American Passports. But we will get it done!
