Huntsville Marathon

Tyson's brother Thane trained for his 2nd marathon in one year. His two teenage sons joined him in training and both ran the half marathon. They stayed over  the night before and we all woke up early to cheer them across the finish line. 

We can't be good cheerleaders without posters. Tucker, Dusty and Lydia went to work creating these. 

We set up our spot. It was fairly chilly but still nice. A perfect condition for running, unlike the Ogden Marathon of 2013 back here. 

This was the winner of the marathon. Thane noticed that neither of his feet were touching the ground in this photo. No wonder he won!

We took a stroll down the road to pass the time and found a swing for the kids. 

Corban came in next. We caught the back of his head. He was cruising. We didn't realize he'd be coming in so quickly. We did spot Dakota. I was a proud Aunt. We cheered loud for all to hear.

Corban & Dakota resting after their long run of 13.1 miles. The brothers ran the first 8 miles together and then Corban took off on his own. They also trained and ran in intervals. I think they ran 3 minutes and then walked 30 seconds. Or something similar to that. 

These two munchkins are the sweetest of friends. They loved playing together. 

Thane ran in next. We had enough eyes watching and we spotted him instantly.

His sons jumped in the race and finished the last leg by his side.

Lydia was a little bit sad to miss out on the race. I told her she could run in with Arlene. She did not remember Arlene...I kept telling her it was Grandma's sisters. We waited a while longer and then the Southams came running around the bend. 

It was their 3rd marathon in ONE MONTH. Is that an insanely awesome goal or what?!?  I never heard to many more details about how it went...but they finished. 

Lydia ran in with Arlene. I'm not sure if she was a help or a hindrance. 

But Lydia had a blast and Arlene appears to be in good spirits in this photo...I spy a thumbs up.

Thane's time for full marathon: 4 hrs even

Corban's half time: 1 hr 43 min

Dakota's half time: 1 hr 56 min

That evening the kids watched movies while us Mothers went over to the church to eat and watch the Relief Society broadcast. It was wonderful catching up with my sister-in-laws. And the meeting was so uplifting as well. 

Tyson was not ready to run another marathon quite yet, he still remembered the pain of the last one. However, watching from the sideline about killed him. When we returned home he put his name in the lottery for the Ogden Marathon 2014.
