Kansas City, Missouri Temple & Liberty Jail

This post and the 5 to follow are all about our trip to and from Nauvoo, Illinois. I really did take that many pictures. Are you not surprised?

Neither Tyson nor I have ever been to any of these church sites before and it was an incredible trip to share together. We went to sleep each night full of new information to remember and ponder. I’m still taking it all in.

Lydia was a trooper. We tried to make it as fun as possible for her. There was a lot of driving and a lot of listening to Senior missionaries, but she did great!

I loved Kansas City, Missouri. I snapped a ton of pictures. One, because I had nothing else to do and second because it was a beautiful city. I will spare you from looking at all of them. I could totally live there some day,  it had rivers, a beautiful sky line, lots of bridges, neat architecture, hills, tree’s….it was awesome.

First time in Missouri. Another state crossed off our list. :)

We made our first real stop in to Liberty Jail. I thought of Aunt Sharon and Uncle Jim spending many of hours at this site when they were missionaries here. I would have loved to have them take us on a tour. This is a sacred place. We enjoyed it immensely.

Lydia knew it to be a special place too.

We began teaching her this scripture before our trip. Tyson chose it. She almost has it memorized. We saw it a few different places on our trip.

Next stop, Kansas City, Missouri Temple.
WOW! It is BIG, much bigger than I had anticipated. It had a special spirit there as well. We were there on a Saturday night and it was being dedicated the following day.

We had hoped to see the Cultural celebration that evening but things didn’t line up like we had planned. It turned out alright in the end because it gave us time to take Lydia swimming at our hotel.

Check out this mural on our wall…..inside our hotel room? Awesome right and a little ghetto-ness mixed into one package. We liked the Jacuzzi in the room, Lyd thought it was her own personal pool.

What is it about a hotel room telephone that children find so fascinating?

I love the pictures you took of the Kansas City temple. It was especially cool to see the erected in 2012 sign.
