Custom Portraits

Lydia and I repeat these phrases every night before she goes to bed. This has been going on for years now. I asked her to paint this for her bedroom. We framed it in a cute teal frame and it now hangs on her wall.

Sister Ta'asee, one of our Sister missionaries asked me to paint a portrait of her family. She has a HUGE family. They live in Arizona. The parent's weren't in the photo but she showed me pictures of them and I squeezed em in.

Here is the sketching process.
Here is the painting process. Yep, that's my ancient lap desk/pillow that my parents bought me when I was probably 8 years old. I still use it.
Here is the finished product.
For a portrait with this many people I would normally charge $40. It took me a long time. But for Sister Missionaries I charged a bag full of mango's and fresh avocados from their back yard trees. Yum! I had guacamole for days and froze all the mango's for my green smoothies.
Lewis is always intrigued by what I do.
Sometimes he likes to taste what I do too. Eeeew! Stop that Lewis, you'll get sick!
This beautiful friend of mine, Jenny just moved from Guam to Hawaii. Tough life, eh!
She has the best wardrobe and shoe collection.
The Ta'asee family prepared me for THIS one. This is my friend Shannon and her extended family in St.George. Shannon has the red hair in the back. I love her. The tricky part of this one was trying to fit them all one one page.
But I did it! Here is the sketch.
I loved painting the colors. I think it turned out great!
I also painted one of Shannon, Jared and their 4 beautiful kids.
Lewis finds it exhausting watching me paint.
One of my bff's Jessica has two beautiful children. She wanted one of each of them. This was trickier than I thought it would be. My first few drafts they looked liked teenagers instead of a toddler & preschooler.
Have you ever met a lazier cat? We call him Lazy Lewis.
