Scuba Diving

Tyson and some of his buddies from the hospital decided they wanted to become Scuba Certified. Miles was their instructor and Mooki and Ryan joined the class as well. Miles gave them a steal of a deal. Guam is one of the cheapest places in the world to become certified.

Tyson had to watch hours of instructional video's before the actual class began. Ok, maybe not hours, but they felt like hours because I watched them too. They even put us to sleep on the couch some nights. Ha ha.

The course was a three day event. It started Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
It sounded intense and exciting all at the same time. Tyson enjoyed it and was successful. The only part he struggled with was sometimes one of his ears wouldn't equalize and another time he would get really dizzy after surfacing. But he really enjoyed it. Its a whole new world down there.

Mookie had a rough go. He didn't eat much or drink water throughout the day. Tyson offered to share all of his provisions. He ended up getting pretty sick on Saturday.

The same week after becoming certified Brent and Ben invited him to come along on a night dive. He left the house 8 p.m. at night and it gets dark at 6 p.m. here. It was pitch black and they had flash lights and they swam out and went down. I was at home. I said lots of prayers and started to worry after not hearing from him for a few hours. I knew he was in safe hands, Brent has done over 300 dives . But I also know that things can go wrong.

Nothing did. He had a marvelous time and they ended up finding and wrestling with an octopus. Very cool!
