Crab Festival

Merizo, one of the southern villages was hosting a crab festival. Merizo is about 45 mins drive away from our home, but only about 15 miles. Crazy. We get to drive slow on these two lane island roads.

Tyson had driven a young adult man, named Stephen to our church on this particular Sunday and we decided since we were driving him all the way home to Merizo we had better go check out this festival.

Beautiful island home.

Little yellow dress explorer.
The main street in Merizo. It is usually a ghost town during the heat of the day, no people & no cars.
But as we kept walking we hit this. Crab festival grid lock.
A little hot dog/burger joint.
The boat dock to head out towards Coco's island.
A beautiful mural.
As we walked we saw fresh fruit growing on all sorts of interesting looking trees.
They were having a Jet Ski competition. I definitely need to look into this for next year. I think I could take all of these young hot shots.
Island boys chilling on the docks.

They had lot of booths filled with treasures to buy.

Later in the day they filled this area with live crabs and let the people go at em.

We ran into these handsome boys and their newest catch of the day.

It was one hot day. We didn't last too long without water and man alive buying those crabs cakes were tempting and since it was Sunday we boogied home for our own dinner instead.

PS. The following weekend Stephen was able to get married and then baptized, all, in the same day! So exciting for him and his new little family.
