Moving Day 1, 2, & 3

Our move to Guam became a little bit more real than ever this week.

Monday morning our packers showed up at 8:00 a.m. and they finished up around 5:00 p.m. Four of them were from Tonga and one was from Peru. They were all very hard workers and super friendly. We were told to have all of our belongings in piles in each room. This was tricky because I didn't want them to pack up any of my in-laws things. I designated one room in the basement to be "the room" and then it started overflowing to the hallway and then I quit that plan and everything upstairs ended up in the living room the night before they came. It was chaos but organized chaos in my mind.

Lydia's pile.

The overflowing hallway.
Toy room.
I put sticky notes on a few items.
At first I didn't know what to do with myself. We weren't allowed to help and I didn't want to just stand around and watch. However, we did have to be nearby to answer all their questions. Tyson and I hit some paperwork and our mail piles and we ended up taking care of so many things, random things and at the end of the day we were happy to get that all out of the way.
I sent Lydia to a friends house for most of the morning so she would have some fun.

Then she came home with time for lunch and she watched one show before heading off to school.

Their truck was full of packing supplies.
Lydia's room all boxed up.
Since we are moving overseas they have to wrap EVERYTHING like this. This is her dresser and her bookshelf.

They gave us mixed information about being allowed to bring food storage along. In the end they said we could as long as the containers hadn't been opened,

I bought this furniture at the DI to use in Lydia's new bedroom. We were not allowed to bring spray paint cans so I took time to give it a few coats and let it dry really well before they wrapped it.

After Lydia returned from school she played with some more friends just over the fence.
It was a cold and chilly day.
She liked her new playroom. We were tired after a long day of watching them pack. They worked so hard, I bet they just go home exhausted. It was the nicest thing ever having someone do all this hard labor for us. Because I have done it before and it takes me weeks.

On day 1 we weren't able to find our stove or oven so we headed to Subway for dinner. Then we came home and watched one last movie on the big screen.

The following morning DAY 2 we met two workers at our storage unit. Here they had to unpack all of my boxes and re-pack them once more. What a hassle but it had to be done because of liability. They were able to use another storage unit to move the finished boxes. The day started at 8:30 a.m. and they finished at 3:00 on the dot. I stayed for most of the morning to supervise.

The sky threatened rain all day long.
At the end of Day 2 we still couldn't find our stove or oven so we headed to Paces and my parents and Logan drove down to join us. It was a fun night full of lots of stories about Tyson's ODS experience.

DAY 3 started at 8:30 a.m. when a new crew arrived to load all of our boxed into big crates on a semi truck. They were really great. It was another big day of work.
I saw this label and wondered when again I will wear my winter coat.
Half way through the day this worker on the truck fell right off the ramp and the ramp fell too. I'm not sure how it happened but it was loud and we ran to the window and he was on his back. It about broke my heart. He was shaken up and didn't get up for a while. But he said he was ok. He wasn't very convincing.
Before Lydia had school I helped her to build a fort out of the leftover cardboard.
All of our toys are gone....but we have a box so all is well with the world. (Its down in the basement now.)
After we signed some papers, they wrapped everything up and we watched them nail the crates shut.

We still had 1/2 a crate left to fill.
Lydia has been wheeling through life lately.
Her new school shirt arrived and it's yellow so she is over the moon about it.

Our movers left. I walked into the upstairs spare bedroom and found 6 more boxes that contained ALL of Tyson's clothes and shoes. Eeeek! We hurried and called a few phone numbers and 30 minutes they came back to pick up the last load. Phew! We were panicking for a few minutes.

Later that night our home teacher showed up with a hot Dinner for us. It was the kindest gesture and we felt loved.

Getting ready to move overseas has been a complicated and stressful process up to this point but the last three days have been nothing but ease. They did all of the work and all we had to do was supervise. We made they sure they had donuts to eat everyday. We had to keep their tummies happy. ;)
Our stuff is on it's way. It has to arrive by Nov 11th but it will most likely come sooner than that. We hope. Fingers crossed!

We received an email and they weighed all of our belongings and it was 6965 lbs. We were allowed twice that amount of weight according to Tyson's rank and our family size.
