Show and Teach

I am in charge of implementing Activities for Young Women's Mutual throughout this month. Last night was successful & simple so I thought I'd share.

I got the idea from my nephew Jake. His class at school did a Show and Teach, instead of the classic Show and Tell. (He taught them all how to make a green smoothie.)

I invited each Young Women & leader to bring something to teach us and by the end of the night we learned all sorts of good things.

A few thing they taught us were Origami, a cheer leading routine, basketball skills, button bracelets, nail painting technique and more.

We went in order of Birthdays from January to December. If some of the girls didn't want to teach that was just fine with me. When it came to August I taught all the girls how to do a sock bun in their hair. I demonstrated on Isabella. Then since that only took about 2 minutes I also taught them how to do straw curls using drinking straws.

I was in charge of a refreshment so I taught the girls how to make my Mother-in-laws 2 ingredient Fudge recipe. I had it made and ready to eat but I brought the supplies and empty containers to show them how I prepared it. It was gone in a wink. I didn't even have time to snap a picture.

The activity was a hit because it was mostly the girls sharing, they got to know each other better, it didn't cost any money and we all went home learning something new. I challenged the girls to work on their talents and set goals this summer in their free time so they can keep learning and growing.

Easy Fudge Recipe:
2 Symphony bars
1 can of Sweetened Condensed Milk

Melt the chocolate (stirring frequently) in a microwaveable glass bowl.
Add the Sweetened and Condensed Milk and stir until combined. Pour into a greased 8x8 pan.
Let set up in the fridge before serving.
