We attended the 3rd annual Twister party this year at the Walsers.
I’ve explained it before, but here is a quick re-cap. We watch Twister the movie, laugh at all the awesome lines, the flying cows, the sounds of the growling bear tornado’s, plot mess ups and eat the exact same dinner they eat in the show.
Our meal is complete with steak, mashed potatoes, a fried egg, a roll and lemonade. Seriously, next time you watch the movie, you’ll see them eating it at Aunt Mays house. It is such a manly meal. Tyson loves it. I do too. We did have carrots, corn and peas this year. But I didn’t have room on my plate for those until later.
The Walser’s neighbor came over during the party. He chases tornado as a hobby/side job and then sell’s his footage to T.V. networks. He got some AMAZING footage of the Joplin Tornado. It was a MONSTER tornado and on his film you see it get HUGE quick. He made lots of money and they used his footage on the last episode of Extreme Home Make over edition when they built 7 homes in 7 days. His crew also helped in the relief efforts.
Check it out! His company is the Base hunters.
So far, every year that we have watched this movie and eaten our many meal we have been safe from Tornadoes. We have had to get in a shelter of some sort, but our direct area of Norman has not been hit.
A look back at 2010:
Here’s hoping to another safe tornado season!!!!
These are the best rolls I’ve made to date. I had to snap a picture because I don’t know if I will ever be able to duplicate the process as perfectly again. They were light, fluffy and delicious!
I followed this recipe and I will definitely make them again.
