Written in January: I would have posted this sooner, but the spacing and formatting went crazy in blogger and I didn’t know how to fix it. I found a new program to blog from and so far I like it. But this was too fun not to post even though is 2 months outdated.
Where do I begin?
I'll start by saying that Lydia just might hold the record for changing her outfit the most times in one day. I'm talking 6, 7 plus times, I've never actually counted, it could be more. Even if we leave the house for part of the day she'll still get in a multiple changes.
She has a special relationship with her clothing, an obsession one might call it. She's always loved wearing pretty clothes but it took a new level back in November. I thought it would be a phase that would take its course and pass, but hasn't.
Now if you're wondering, "really, Laura, is it that big of deal?" I guess I would say, "no its not. Yes, there are worse things my daughter could do, but everything in moderation right?", well, this hasn't been, it has been quite excessive!
It got so bad I taped up her dresser one day. Good idea right? Nope, this didn't help. Tyson and I discussed moving her dresser into our room to have more control over the situation. Seriously ridiculous. I didn't want to do that.
This is part of her every night routine.
Planning her outfits is an art form. She does it each evening and she plans it out down to the very last accessory. I didn't start taking pictures until the obsession was in full force, I really tried not to encourage it. I do admire her organization skills and this made morning routines go so smoothly. She gets dressed the instant she wakes up all on her own.
The wand & whistle crack me up. What on earth girl?
The outfit on the right is probably her ALL time favorite.
She'd wear this every single day if I let her.
You can stop reading here if you'd like, I do have dozens of examples that are about to go down in the books, so here I go.
1. Lately it has gotten a little colder outside and since February she has refused to wear pants, she'd rather freeze in style, so I let her make that choice. She looooves her skirts!
2. When she comes out she'll hold a blanket up in front of her and say, "Mom, guess what I'm weaaaaring?" Then she drops it and hopes for a big reaction.
3. She often brings me earrings and shoes that she hopes I will wear. I have my own 3 year old fashion consultant.
4. On most days she matches head bands, watches & necklaces with every outfit, even with her pajama's at night. I guess she never wants to be caught un-accessorized, even in bed. I have to go sneak in and take them off after she is asleep.
5. Other days she color coordinates her clothes, all red, pink, white, or blue.....even down to the underwear. Yes, she changes her underwear often as well. You might remember Pinkalicious.
6. Just last week I caught her in our little walk in closet standing on a kitchen chair planning out Tyson's outfit for after he changed out of his work attire. He was sweet and wore what she chose. I teased that she had her life sized Ken doll. Man, was he ever styling too.
7. Our princess magnets have helped with our issue. The more she plays with them, the less she thinks about changing her own clothes. I watched her watch Sleeping Beauty DVD the other morning & simultaneously change Aurora's magnetic clothes with each scene of the movie without missing a beat.
8. She always plans 2 outfits for Sunday, a play dress for at home & a fancier church dress. She loves Sundays and I'm 100 percent fine with that.
It'll be interesting to see if her undying love for clothing continues. I don't see it going anywhere, anytime soon, so I've decided to embrace it for now rather than letting it bother me.
I have taken the time to teach her how to fold clothes....and she can do it! So now she knows that I expect her to put them away with me.
The one great thing about this is I never have much laundry to do.
She doesn't keep anything on long enough to get dirty.

Oh my, that has to be the cutest thing ever! Does she lay out those outfits all on her own? They are laid out SO perfectly! I love how she has to keep her parents styling too, how embarrassing that her mother doesn't wear as many accessories as she does.
Oh I can't wait to see her again, miss you all!
that is SO awesome! She is sure styling, for real. she does a really good job, I wish she would teach Rylee...HER outfits, are CRAzY!!!!
My son Nathan would be happy to wear the same clothes day and night that way there is less changing. He never wants to pick out his clothes and hates wearing Sunday clothes. The only time he does want to change his clothes is when he pees in them (by accident of course). Your daughter is the cutest!
C'est une très bonne idée comme toujours...Lydia est une vrai princess bise
She sure knows how to match and accessorize! What a talent! I wish I could do that. I love it! She reminds me of the Fancy Nancy books!
