Welcome back to Oklahoma!

Photobucket
We were tickled to have Grandma & Grandpa Goodrich come and visit us the first weekend in March. They are like celebrities to Lydia. She was very much star struck when they first arrived and didn't say a word for quite a while.

Books and grandparents make a great combination.
She almost took advantage of the situation.

Our first day we hit Edmund, Oklahoma.
This is the chapel that Jim helped purchase the land for while they lived in Oklahoma 34 years ago. He had never seen it. We were happy to find that a door had been left unlocked and we took a little snoop.

This was the first weekend the blossoms came out. Aren't they beautiful?!

Before this church was built Jim & Beth used to meet in a mortuary for their church services.
Photobucket
We easily found their old house.
I agreed with Beth and wouldn't have wanted to peek inside. I'm certain she has so many memories of that place.
Jim hopped out of the car and introduced himself to the lady who occupies the place now.

Next stop was the University that Jim where Jim used to teach.

This was his old office.

He taught health & began a new major here that is still going strong.
He said he spent many hours in this gym with students.

We drove to the out skirts of Edmund and this is what we found.
A 70 foot tall SODA POP!
Photobucket
This is a little shop & restaurant called Pops.
It was yummy!
Photobucket
They have over 25 hundred flavors of pop. Maybe more!
Photobucket
Anything you can think of, from all over the world....you can find it here!
Photobucket
How about these flavors? Bleh!
Photobucket
Or these? Eeeeew!

Wall to wall pop on display.

I thought of Jake when I saw ALL THIS ROOTBEER!

This flavor is popular in France. It is tasty and comes in the cutest bottles.

We got sucked into buying this kind. We couldn't help it! :)

We spent an evening at the women's gymnastics meet.
Lydia started out strong. Then she started to fade, little miss didn't get a nap in.
Photobucket
Man, those girls are a sight to see. SO TALENTED!!!! I was in awe with every move!
Photobucket
Lydia....going.....going....
Photobucket
GONE!
Photobucket
She completely zonked out on Grandpa and she missed most of the action.
Photobucket
We stopped at Atwoods so Grandpa could get some supplies to fix a few things around our home. He's the best! Mean while Beth taught me some new sewing skills.
Photobucket
I took them to our favorite park, it was a beautiful sunny day and we soaked it all in.

When Tyson got off work we headed to the city and saw the Memorial site for the Oklahoma City bombing. This brought up LOTS and LOTS of concern with Lydia. I showed her images from the pamphlet and tried my best to explain what happened.

We found this statue of Jesus across the street.

It was windy and cold this evening.
We made our way to Brick Town, to dinner and to a few stores before heading home.

On Sunday we enjoyed church, they met up with some old friends that are in our ward from Edmund (the Pierces) and then we took a drive, walked around OU campus and enjoyed a  meal.

Tyson and I got accustomed to sleeping on Lydia's bed & the couch.
The night they left we both had a lousy sleep in our own bed. Ha ha.
We were sad to see them leave, but so happy that they made the long trek out just to see us!

Sounds like a nice visit. I enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the pop shop and the oklahoma city bombing. The Jesus statue was well placed.
