Tyson had been here during his years serving as Scout master in the Memorial Park ward and has been trying to get me to this place ever since.
We convinced Mom & Jake to come along as well. This was Jake's attempt at a 'tough boy' shot. He really was happy, not ticked off in the least. :)
See!
Jake and Tyson took off up the side of the mountain and we didn't even have time to talk about where or when we'd meet up again...we looked up and they were gone. We kept looking up to see if we could spot them and did our fair share of worrying too.
While the boys were off having their extreme hiking adventure Mom and I hiked around the lake, enjoying the flowers & the view.
The grove was spilling over with wild flowers.
The flowers took my breath away.
The boys hiked along the entire ridge without a marked path or real trail. Tyson said it was hard work and that some of his scouts wouldn't have been able to do it, but Jake (7 years old) did great. Jake told Tyson, "My Dad would never let me do anything like this." Ha ha. He also suggested that they ought to, "tell the government about the 'new' trail they found so they could get paid." Good idea Jake! You more definitely should! :)
They made it back about 30 minutes after us.
They hiked the ridge behind them. Man oh man!
I have a feeling that a visit to Tony Grove might soon become a new tradition.
