Good Night. Sweet Dreams.

My Grandma Woolf sang this song to my Dad.
Dad and Mom sang it to me.
I now sing it to Lydia.

All these years, 25 or so I never knew where exactly the lyrics or tune came from, I don't think any of us did. I never gave it much thought and if I did I probably just assumed Grandma made them up.

Boy were we ever wrong. This special song that has been passed down through the generations came from an old war time movie from 1944 called Hollywood Canteen. This song means so much to me and hearing it sung again in this fashion and now having this clip to hold on to means the world me to.

Grandma must have watched this movie when she was a young mom and started singing it to her babies. Lydia and I watched a longer but similar clip a dozen times on Sunday and she asked for more the next day when she woke up.

Now my Dad is together with his 3 sisters in Cardston. I hope that someone has played or sung this to Grandma as they are with her. She sure is one special lady and as Lydia grows I want her to know all about her amazing grandmothers.

May the angels up above watch over her until her time comes to return to her Heavenly Father, precious husband and other loved ones.

PS. I love the way the man is looking at her while she sings at 54 seconds.
The movie is already in my netflix queue. I can't wait to watch it!
The song was nominated for an oscar for best song, but didn't win. WOW!
