Here is how it all went down.
Wednesday: Lydia woke up and took her diaper off, climbed up onto the potty and went number 1 & 2. What the what? I was shocked but SO proud of her. We made a big hulabaloo about it and the rest of the day she kept doing it, diaper off and on, off and on with success each time. That evening we went to story time and she told me twice that she had to go and she even had success in the restroom.
That night before bed I showed her all of her big girl underwear and told her she could wear it the next day. I checked on her at midnight before I went to bed and she had snuck out of bed, put it on (sideways) and fallen back asleep. Yes, I did snap a picture. It was so FUNNY...with her little bum hanging out. (not internet appropriate.)
Thursday: Day 2. She did great in her underwear. Almost too great it was driving us a little nuts. She was going about every 10-15 minutes. I think she was scared to have an accident so she was going as much as she could. She did have one accident. (my fault) I let her watch a show and she was sitting on our swivel chair, she got down and I saw a wet spot. I think she was just in the zone and thought she was wearing a diaper like usual. I didn't get upset, but we talked about it.
I put her in a diaper the first night, but I could tell it confused her and that is why I don't like pull-ups much either. So no more diapers at all since that night. I just deny her drinks before bed and have her go potty right before she goes to sleep, that has worked.
Friday: Another successful day. We stayed close to home again except Tyson's Seminary class party that night at the church. I thought it would be good practice for her at the church and she loved that restroom...a big room full of potty's was thrilling for her little eyes and she once again went about every 15 minutes. Ha ha. PS. Murder in the dark in RS room. So much fun!!!

Saturday: Elders came over for dinner. We were eating out dessert and Lydia announced from the bathroom. "Mommy, I goin poo poo!" over and over about 5 or 6 times. So awkard. But we all had a good laugh!

Sunday: I practiced having her tell her nursery leaders she had to go pee and she remembered and did it. A little too much I heard. Sorry ladies. But thank you for helping with the whole process.
My leverage on her was Oreo's, "white cookies" she calls them. I would give her an Oreo after she had success. I was starting to run out, so then it was just a piece of an Oreo and now she is starting to forget about them and just goes on her own.
I'll be honest, I was so looking forward to trying all my methods and potty philosophy out on her, but it really was as easy as I described, she woke up and took the initiative. I had been preparing her for a while, but this was ALL HER!!!
As of now: She is getting better at holding it. She wakes up dry 99 % of the time. She needs to learn that she doesn't need a new pair of underwear every time she goes. Silly girl! But a week later and she is a pro, not perfect....with a few accidents once and a while, but for the most part she is doing great.
Did I mention I am super proud of her?!?

Maybe she can give a little bit of her initiative to Samuel and I won't have to do the whole potty training thing either, which kind of terrifies me. Yay for Lydia, it's so exciting.
You are kidding me. I don't even dare to hope that it'll be that easy for me. Will you please email me and share a few of your "preparation" tips? :)
Yay!! We have been potty training Peyton this past week too.
That's great! Thanks for posting about this, too - I'm starting to potty train Emerie and there just aren't enough good resources out there (aka - people doing it & telling about it) for me to read. Little Lydia is so smart!
