Tyson's seminary class finally earned their first PARTY for reading the scriptures. I believe the deal is EVERYONE must read every day for 2 weeks consecutively. They did it and we rewarded them in style. Well sort of. Pizza & games!
To be honest I never realized it until now, but teenagers kind of intimidate me. Why? I have no clue. I used to be one. I am not THAT much older than them, but none the less they still do.
Put me in a room with 60 children...alone even, and it doesn't phase me. After about 10 minutes I got over myself though.
We busted out all of our favorite games we started with some "3 Round Guesstures," the timeless "Sign Game", some "Couch Game," not to be confused with the Lap Game and well the thought of "Mafia" crossed my mind, but Barry got out "Apples 2 Apples" and that was definitely a crowd pleaser.
Tyson and I are big game people and frankly it was a breath of fresh air hanging out with teenagers, not having to sit and make polite chit chat at adult functions....I enjoy a night every once and a while of just being silly and having fun.
Lydia took most of these pictures. After a few minutes she warmed right up to everyone and I truly think she believed the party was in her honor.
To calm my funky anxiety I went nuts preparing food. We had Pizza from two different places, lots to drink, caramel popcorn, a veggie platter, Better than "kissing" Cake, lots of candy and chips and salsa....they did not go hungry that is for sure!
They are a terrific bunch of kids and I can tell how much love and respect they have for Brother Goodrich. I know the feeling is mutual and now I have faces to go with all the names he tells me about every day.
One girl, Takaya, the one with the sunglasses, she could NOT get over seeing Brother Goodrich in regular street clothes, it was weirding her out. She kept bringing it up and I couldn't help but laugh. We better never host pool party, they would all be scared out of their minds. Ha ha. :)
The Church is true and we are lucky to get to associate with such an awesome group of latter day saint youth.
PS. I can't forget to mention the Goepferts, they let us use their house....how awesome is that. I tended their son, they went out on a date and we all had a great time, it was perfect!
