A Camping we will go

Photobucket

The Elders Quorum planned a camp out for our ward. I have not been camping with Ward members since Summer Land B.C. as a little girl. It was so much fun. A LOT of WORK! But I am glad we made the effort to go.

We waited for Tyson to get off work, I wasn't as prepared as I could have been, we had to make a few stops before we left town and we BARELY got everything unpacked, hauled and set up before the sun went down. Check out this sunset. Ignore the telephone wire. :) I was driving. Oopps.

I was curious to how camping would be in Oklahoma. Our destination was only 10 miles away and we ended up on a sandy sandy beach next to a river. It was HOT and after we set up Tyson went to the truck to cool off with the A.C.

Lydia and Tyson went to bed a lot earlier than I did. We didn't put the tent flie on at first because it was too humid. Lydia climbed into her pack n play and was tickled to lay there in bed and have a perfect view of a full moon.

We awoke early and enjoyed this beautiful sunrise.

We didn't make it in time to make our cobbler dinner/dessert I had prepared. So before Tyson headed back to work he made our family some peach cobbler. Mmmm!!!

I adore the kids in our ward!!! I finally know all of the names of each child from the age of 11 to 2. Yay. I am still working on the Nursery kids. Lots of the kids worked on these sand tunnels before bed and then again all morning, they were awesome and Lydia and her friends got a tour.

Lydia's new hoody from Nana & Granddad. Thanks!!!! It did cool off a little bit in the evening....for the first time since last March. :) Our tent, tables and chairs were soaking wet with all the humidity, you would have sworn it rained. That made for some MESSY clean up.

I visit teach both of these ladies and it has been great getting to know them better. Laura, Lydia, Chantel, McKenzie, Mason & Isabel.

I was covered with sand on my way to a friends house so I could set the tent up again and get it hosed off in their big yard when I spotted a garage sale. I haven't hit a good one in a long time.

I found her a big inflatable case of Moon Sand, (coolest stuff ever) it made me laugh because here I was silently complaining to myself of the sand I will finding for days and then I bought some to take home. Ha ha.

Got some other good stuff too! Happy Day!

Looks like fun - too bad you didn't get to make your yummy dinner and cobbler. What did you do instead?

Fun! Although, I agree with you -it's a lot of work to go camping, especially for ONE night. But there's nothing more cozy than sharing a tent, all together as a family. :)
