Logan and Dad on his birthday March 2009.

Two memories about my Dad:
When I used to be little and couldn't sleep at night, I would sneak out of my room and occasionally find Dad watching NBA...in the good 'ol days, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan...etc. We'd both pick a team, and I'd snuggle up on his lap and watch with him. He'd explain, I wouldn't always pay attention or know what he was talking about, but I loved being with him. Basketball to this day still brings me some special kind of peace....and I married a great man like my Dad and the other night, I saw my little Lydia, snuggled up with her Daddy watching some Lebron James and Kobe Bryant basketball action and it brought back sweet memories. Sometimes when no men are around I find myself with the T.V. on watching it all by myself.

Lydia was only a few days old, I was struggling one evening with her, she was fussy, I was discouraged with nursing, Tyson was at work and I was not looking forward to a night alone. I had the case of the baby blues after she was born, but I was doing ok as long as I had visitors and each day a few of my friends would stop by. On this particular day, nobody came and being so tired and lonely I found myself in a chair in tears....I didn't even have time to offer a prayer when I heard a knock on my door and it was my dad. He told me I needed out of my house, so we took Lydia for her first walk in the stroller, she cried all the way around the block and then we came back, talked and watched some Man Vs. Wild episodes. I was so happy he came over to be with me.

It was my Dad's birthday a few days ago...it is tough being so far away from family and not being able to celebrate with them, but I know it won't be forever and I am so thankful my husband is in school and getting a good education to support our family.

LOVE you Dad! Hope you had a great Birthday!!!! You are the BEST!

Love, your girl forever. xoxo
