Oklahoma is in a "State of Emergency" right now. The weather channels are taking over every channel on t.v.!! Freezing rain, all flights have been canceled, snow storms expected, ice storms an inch thick... warning everyone to be grateful if you DON'T lose power and to STAY home. University is closed for the next 2 days so we have our Daddy home....yay! :) Long time residents tell us that everything shuts down and people stay put until it melts because they don't have the man power or equipment to take care of the roads.
The bizarre thing is yesterday I went to the store and didn't even need to wear a coat because it was so beautiful outside. The grocery store was packed, everyone was buying water, food and everything you could think of the prepare for the worst. I loaded up on food, we already have sufficient water storage, candles, matches....nothing to cook with if we lose power, but enough non perishable's to survive if this is really going to be as bad as they say.
I've lived in Canada for half my life, Utah for the other and never seen anything like this before. Crazy!
This pictures was taken in Tulsa a few years back...just 2 hours away from our home during a storm. Lets hope we don't see anything like this. Wow!!!!

The freezing rain finally stopped during the night and now everything is frozen. We are blessed to still have our electricity, lots of the state of Oklahoma is without. It is now snowing outside...something residents here don't see very often. We are keeping cozy inside. So far I have done some crocheting, baking, watched some old Cosby show episodes and read my new book from the library. Tough life eh? I think we will continue to stay put until everything thaws.
We ventured out in the cold right before it got dark and I got a few shots.
Lydia next to our truck. (17 months)
The side of our truck. Tyson punched it and it cracked like glass would.

Our big tree covered in ice.

Snowing outside. Nothing compared to the blizzard in Cardston but our first snow we've seen in OK.

The tree's look amazing!

Day three--things are beginning to thaw and in good timing because I was finally beginning to go a little stir crazy today after being home bound. I e-mailed my friend Marie to tell her of my 'boredom' and they braved the icey roads and came over with their son Zacharie to 'play'. They brought us some french food, patte that you eat on bread, (Tyson awkwardly said it resembled cat food), which it did, but I only thought it and didn't say it. Surprisingly tasted very good!!! Antoine said that 99.99% of people in France eat it and love it. I made them Chicken Rolls and they loved those too so our dinner was a success.
Anyway back to the storm, tomorrow the sun is supposed to shine and the temperature will be above freezing. I am glad we survived our first ice storm. I went outside today to start cleaning the car off for church tomorrow and I hit the side of it with the broom and huge panels of ice came crashing down. Lydia 'helped' with the ice removal and feasted on icicles. She pulls em right off, pops em in her mouth, takes a big bite and crunches em until they are gone. So funny! I hate biting anything cold, she didn't get that from me.
