When we arrived on Guam so did 6,000 other sailors/military members. The USS George Washington Carrier stopped here and stayed for a few days. The took over the island. We had a hard time finding hotels to stay in, they were all booked and it made it extremely difficult to find rental cars. We did manage to survive but they made our first week or so here a little trickier.

We knew that we'd need two vehicles eventually, so we got serious about car shopping as quick as we could. We stopped at a few used car lots on base and in town. But we came across this vehicle through word of mouth. It is a Chevy Equinox, 2005. Its a great vehicle so far. It had some major cleanliness issues. But we took care of that. The wipers and car alarm were possessed too. Another thing we, or should I just say Tyson fixed. We love the big spacious back seat and the truck. Our beach chairs, umbrella and beach bag will fit perfect back there. ;)
They call well loved and used island cars, Boonie cars. So here's my first Boonie car. I love it and I love that we were able to pay cash for it. I hope it treats us good.
The housing department told us we might have to live off base and pay month to month rent at a place called Alupang Towers until our house funding came in and they could do repairs on our new home. We went to the tower to check it out. It reminded me of the Tower of Terror ride at California adventures. The hallway and elevators were super creepy! It did have a nice pool and beach front property but everything worked out and we don't have to live here after all. Yay!
This is the top of Nimitz Hill where we stayed off and on for the first two weeks we were here. Their was not a lot to do here, but it had a beautiful view and a park pretty close by. Lydia and I did some home schooling every day together. I was little concerned about her numbers this day. She usually writes them correctly, but she had some wicked dyslexia going on here.
When we go grocery shopping around lunch time Sushi and Lunchables always happen to make it into our carts. They make a great lunch! I loooove California rolls.
Lydia thinks her Lunchable Towers are pretty cool. Someone needs to teach this kid not to play with her food. ;)
