Goodbyes

Our week of goodbyes also included a week of those headaches you get when you have been crying too much. I shed a lot of tears.

I had lunch with Hilary and Owen one day at Station park. It was so good to visit and the Margarita pizza & caprese salad were delicious. I hate goodbyes. (I don't use the word hate often. Lydia's not allowed to use that word.)

That same night we ate dinner and had Family home evening at the Tanners house. It was so much fun to spend more time with them. For FHE we sang, danced, had a lesson about honesty & played games. They are one amazing family and we will miss them like crazy. I'm kicking myself that I didn't take pictures on this day.

The following day I met up for lunch with Stephanie and Jessica. I left Lydia at home with Tyson but loved seeing their darling little kids. They will be so big the next time I see them. We ate at Dickeys, let the kids play at the park and did a little shopping.

We enjoyed Taco's and visiting at the Smith's new home in Farmington. It is just beautiful. Megan is so talented at decorating. While I was sitting reflecting on our friendship with this group I realized that Matt, Megan, Baggs and obviously Tyson were all there with me on my first date with Tyson. It was 13 years ago (Oct 2001). These friends will be greatly missed.

Leah, Ty, Lydia & Brooks. (Missing Paisley) These kids had fun playing school in the basement.

On Wednesday Lydia had a marathon day of fun. Her best friend from school invited her to go to Chuck E Cheese, then her mother also took them for pizza and a movie. (Harper's family lives with her grandparents, the Foxes, who used to live next door to Tyson's family growing up.) I am so glad they developed such a sweet, strong friendship in such a short amount of time. (Picture taken: a week earlier.)

When Lydia got home I had to run her up to Lagoon to meet  Courtney and the Cole's for some more fun. They rode some rides and did one haunted house for Frightmares. A fun day or what? It didn't end there. We brought Courtney home with us and these girls had a sleepover.

The sleepover included lots of playing, singing, making a music video and when they woke up early and they played some more.

It was UEA weekend so we planned a day with cousins and grandparents. Everyone headed down to NSL and we climbed in the car and met them at the Rec Center. They climbed the rock walls and then the rest of the time was spent sliding, swimming and jumping off the diving board. These kids had a lot of fun. My favorite thing was playing basketball in the pool with Jake.

We came home and I made devoured some sandwiches, Sarah put tired Maverick to bed for his nap and then we went to town decorating all of these sugar cookies that my Mom had made the previous day.

Courtney, Lydia & Jake.

It was a never ending week of fun and goodbyes. Friday night was a Sound of Music cast Reunion/ Goodbye party for Lydia. Since it was UEA a handful of the cast members were out of town but it was still a blast. This is Lydia and Wendy's daughter Isabelle. (Maria's daughter) We went to Wendy's big beautiful home in Farmington and we visited, ate and the kids played until 10:30 at night. Lydia still wasn't ready to leave. She loves her Sound of Music friends/family so much.

Saturday night we stayed home. Probably watched some college football. I honestly don't remember.

Sunday after church we had the Jones, Goodworth's and Wardles over for dinner. We had sweet pork burrito's and lots of yummy sides and desserts. It was a nice weather so the kids played inside as well as outside. Whether anyone saw me or not I shed tears with every single goodbye that was said. We sure love our family SO much.

Monday night we headed over to the Fellers for dinner. The newly married Pauls arrived shortly after us. The Fellers house was under construction. 3 popcorn kernels got stuck in their dishwasher pipe and caused it to have problems draining and it flooded their kitchen and basement. We ordered in chinese food and did some more visiting while the kids mostly played outside.

These munchkins are the cutest! (Baby Jo was sleeping.) Mac, Rylee, Lydia & Scotty.
At 9:00 p.m. Tyson had his NBA Fanstasy basketball draft. Devin and Shon were happy to help him choose some players.

Tuesday night was a night will always bring a smile to my face. We spent it with my family. More on that later. It almost involved the fire department. Ha ha.

Wednesday we packed our bags, took care of odds and ends like running errands, getting haircuts, did some more cleaning and said some more goodbyes. Lydia's passport arrived JUST in time.

I can't even think back on saying goodbye to Heather and Brooklyn. It makes my heart hurt.

We visited Sister Grundvig. Lydia and her developed a special friendship. She was also so kind to all of us. She gave us an envelope to open at the SLC airport, the SF, Hawaii & Guam airport. It was so thoughtful. We loved her BIG pumpkin.

We also make a stop at Ann & Charlies home. Ann put together a bag full of toys, coloring activities and treats for our airplane ride. It was well used and loved. Lydia had lots of visits to the Child's home. They were also so kind to loan me butter and powdered sugar on the Sabbath when I couldn't fun to the store.

Around 7 p.m. these awesome friends popped over to say hi. We headed to Nielsons for some concrete and lots of laughs. I love my Nathan, Alysa and Caldwell family SOOO much. I'm one lucky girl to have so many people to love.

When we arrived home we had one more goodbye to say. The Martinez family came by around 9 p.m. to bid us farewell. They made a big move from Mexico to Utah almost one year ago. It was a scary one for them and I have seen them grow so much. We have been good friends since we met. They live across the street and down one home and we will miss them SO much.

Our girls have formed the most darling friendship. When we first met Yey she couldn't speak any English. We were determined to help her and teach her. 11 months later and she is a little pro, not because of us....but maybe we helped a little. These girls have had so much fun over the months.

I stayed up until about 2 a.m. and woke up at 3 a.m. to get ready to for the airport. Tyson didn't get any sleep at all. In our own ways we were both very excited and anxious. Lydia slept like a rock not knowing that her life and world as she knows it was about to be flipped upside down and inside out.
