Birthday day & first friend party

On September 11th Lydia woke up to a room full of yellow balloons and was the most excited 6 year old on the planet. She has been waiting for her birthday to come like most kids do and it finally did. Woo hoo!

I let her wake up and open a few presents from her Dad and I. She got new markers, a bike helmet, sandals, a book, a neck pillow for up coming airplane ride and the new Frozen Spot it game.
Owen spent the day with us. They played with her new toys in her bedroom for most of the morning. He was a fun guy to have around. We adore him and his rendition of the Happy Birthday song.

Her Dad sent her a package from New Port. It had the sweetest note and a little bear wearing a pink Navy Uniform.

While Lydia was at school I whipped up this cake. I baked it the night before and all I had left was to frost it. Lydia picked this Barbie from her collection of Barbies to use in her doll cake.

I made this banner a few nights before her birthday. It was a fun sewing project. I wanted to find rainbow striped fabric but all I could find was chevron, so chevron it is. This banner is huge. It stretched from one end of the kitchen to the other. I am excited to add this to our birthday decor since it can be reused over and over again.

I had a little fabric left over so I made each party guest a hair bow to go with their party favor. (A drinking cup, ring pop and some of her favorite Cookies n cream chocolate.)
We invited all the girls in our neighborhood that are 4, 5 and 6. The teenager on the right is one of my young Women, Emily, who was baby sitting.

Lydia's party theme was her FAVORITE things.

We read her favorite book, played her favorite games, ate her favorite food....etc. You get the idea.
She really wanted to play Red Light Green Light at her party.....so we did.

She loved her cake.

My parents, Heather and Brooklyn came to her party. They were lots of help when it came to serving all the cake to these giggly and hungry girls.

This photo is pure happiness on her face while she is being sung to.

These sweet girls showered her with birthday gifts. She was one lucky lady. We have been having so much fun playing new games, drawing, doing crafts.....etc. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Marco and Berenice stopped by with their dog.
Lydia always invites Nathan to her birthday's, 1 because she loves him and 2 "Because Nathan give the best presents." ;)
After the cake and gifts we brought out the dress up clothes. The girls played and danced and played some more.
Then Marco organized a fashion show and the girls came out one by one on the 'run way', to music of course and we clapped for them.

Sometimes they came out two by two.

One friend was tired of dress up clothes so I brought out some paint to do art. Lydia loves art.

We went out to dinner with Nathan after the party. Then Lydia had a visit with her Dad on the phone. And before bed I saved one more special present from her Grandparents serving a mission in Australia. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

It was a great day. Thanks to everyone for helping me make it so special for her.
