Elder William Walker kindly allowed us to join in on his private family tour of the newly made over Ogden Temple. (He is my Uncle Jim's younger brother.) We attended the tour on a Wednesday morning. He works closely with the First Presidency as he assists in the building of the Utah temples and he knew all sorts of neat facts and details. It was a treat to hear every word that he willingly shared.
The layout of the temple was similar to the old one. So many wonderful memories came flooding back to me as I walked the halls, especially in the baptistery. This is the temple where I spent most of my youth & young adult years doing work for those who have passed on and I also received my own Endowments in this temple.
Lydia loved going inside. We got to walk into to just about every room and sit down and listen to him as he told us about the paintings, artists, the carpets, chandeliers, imported rugs, hand carved carpets and all about the important ordinances that occur in each room. The bride room was her favorite. I loved the large dome in the middle of the celestial room. Tyson liked the hand carving in the carpet in the sealing room.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch afterwards. Our church does everyone to 110%.
A little souvenir.
Tyson took the photo for us, Sarah was at Girls camp and Maverick was at his Grandma Margarets home.
For history's sake: This is what the Ogden Temple looked like before the renovation.
And this is what is looked like when we first moved to Utah in 1995. It had a Gold steeple with no Angel Moroni on top.
