Rehearsals have obviously taken over life for a while. In fact a nun in the show once asked me if Lydia ever complains about having to attend so many rehearsals day in and day out. My reply was no and then I got to thinking about it and at these rehearsals she gets to do all the things she loves.
Play Pretend
Wear costumes
Sing &
Dance.
Seriously, this girl is in her element. She does all of those things at home all the time and here it is 10x more fun!
The wedding scene.
Courtney joined me in the audience one evening. I love her company. Seriously, she is one fun girl to talk to. Nathan and my parents and my parents have also stopped by.
This is an intense scene....well as intense as the Sound of Music can get. :)
Have I mentioned that the Captain is Leisl's real Father. Her expression in this photo is so darling. These two have been doing musicals since she was a little girl. (Real names: Dan & Maddie)
Aaron (Kurt) and Lydia had to do some backstage sprinting to get to stage right on time.
The festival.
This song makes me cry everytime. I can't help myself.
Spoiler alert: Lydia gets carried off the stage. This scene melts my heart too. I love these people.
Unfinished costumes during another rehearsal. Aren't they great!!!
Brooklyn joined me at rehearsal one evening. It was her Mom's birthday...so while her parents went to dinner she fell asleep to the orchestra playing the Landler.
The orchestra has been practicing for months. They sounded great! Really, really great!
Director. Directing.
Stage manager filled in for Leisl while she was at Girls Camp.
So Long Farewell.
Lydia had a sweet moment n this night. The VonTrapp children were practicing So Long Farewell with the Orchestra for the first time. She needed to work on her timing for her solo. The music director asked her to come and sit down and sing with the orchestra and she was a bit apprehensive, so sweet Derek (stage manager) went with her and she sang her little solo until she got it just right.
During this Saturday morning run through the cast mostly sat and just sang along with the orchestra. No lines, or blocking...just music.
Lydia likes microphones. Can you tell?
Fun, fun, fun!
I can't wait for everyone to see it!
