Gretl VonTrapp

It was a long day waiting to hear the results from the callbacks. They didn't give us any hint as to when they would send out the cast list. I checked my email frequently. Nobody emailed me all day. Actually I did get one email and I was so excited but then realized I had emailed myself a recipe. Ha ha.

I checked the theaters fb page and they finally gave us some hope and said it would be posted after 8 p.m. Yay! But that was still 3 hours away.

My visiting teachers came over around 6:45 p.m. and during our visit my phone rang. I didn't want to be rude and go to my room to answer my phone but after 30 minutes I thought I'd better check to see who it was. It was the theater and a lady named Jan had left a voice mail saying, "They would like to offer Lydia the roll of Gretl!"

I was so thrilled.

I returned the call and accepted Lydia's offer right away.

I couldn't celebrate with Lydia like I would have wanted to with guests in my home. So instead I called her Dad handed her the phone and told her to go tell him her good news! :) Then she called her Grandparents, a few Aunts and Nathan.

Tyson told me Lydia said in the sweetest way,
"Dad, I get to be Gretl, I really do!"

She is very excited about this opportunity. I don't think she quite realizes what we are getting into. But I have so much confidence in her abilities and I think she will be excellent for this roll.

I told her that in her prayers she needed to thank her Heavenly Father for helping her to get this roll. Because we had said prayers before each audition. It was precious on her part when she put two and two together and said, "Heavenly Father answered my prayers."

I also reminded her that her three little friends who also wanted to play Gretl didn't get chosen and were probably at home feeling disappointed right now. She didn't like this and she replied, "But Mom, why can't we all be Gretl?"

This is what she wore to her audition.
She had so much energy before we left the house to head to Clearfield and she came up with some goofy poses for the camera.
I love this girl.
I am so excited to experience this with her.

The show will run: June 27, 28, 30 & July 1-2
I will let you know when I hear more details about ticket sales!
You are ALL invited!!!!
