Last year we experimented with a few different ways to decorate eggs and this technique ended up being my all time favorite.
Step 1.
Boil your eggs.
Cover eggs with water. Bring to a boil, then turn off stove.
Put on a lid. Set timer for 20 minutes.
Dry eggs. Let cool.
Step 2.
Let the kids go crazy with your mini glue gun.
Be careful not to burn your fingers.
My 5 year old was just fine doing this herself.
Step 3.
Dye eggs in coloring.
Let dry.
I like to keep the glue on the eggs.
I like the look of the added texture.
One more thing.
This year I wanted to try and make my own dye.
I used my Wilton Gel coloring. The dye I use when I color frosting for cakes.
The gels are so much more vibrant than the liquid drops.
I found the recipe here.
It worked great! I love the bright colors.
Recipe I used:
1 cup boiling water
2 Tbsp Distilled white vinegar
A small amount of gel coloring.
Stir.
