My very first job in High School was working here, at Valley Nursery. I knew NOTHING about planting a garden, growing vegetables or tending a flower bed, but I could water trees like nobody's business. Ha ha.
I was a water girl with my friends Michelle and Susie. It was a sweet gig. We rotated to different sections of the nursery and watered trees and plants from about 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. ( I think it only rained twice that season.) We got some amazing tans, lots of time to think and if we got finished early enough we got to hang out the rest of the day. Man I forgot how good life was back when I was 16.
Now that I am all grown up...ha ha, I am going to try my hand at gardening.
Lydia I went went here to buy some seeds. It brought back all sorts of memories and I recognized all the same workers since it is a family owned business.
We spent $28.00 on supplies and are going to try growing whatever we can.
We bought....cabbage, tomatoes, spinach, beans, corn, peas, watermelon, cantelope peppers, squash, white pumpkins, orange pumpkins, cilantro, parsley, basil and more that I'm sure I'm forgetting. I want to go back and get some zucchini. I hear that is easy to grow....but we'll find out soon.
I have been asking people lots of questions and reading up on different plants, techniques....etc. I am learning a lot, but have only hit the tip of the iceberg. Eeek!
This place will be PACKED with tree's of all kinds.
Here are my little pots....all labeled.....ready to grow! (I hope!)
That is all about to change!
