Boy, does it ever feel like summer time around here…it is hot, no more waking up early and we’ve been having loads of fun already!
Our ward kicked off the summer with a Family Drive-in-movie night. We made cars in advance and watched Tangled. This is Lydia’s Diva car. Her license plate which read [GDY-GRL] blew off in the wind.
10 minutes into the party and Lydia’s cars headlights, license plate & all 4 tires had all fallen off. We didn’t go home with any prizes….that is for sure! Ha ha. Malachi’s parents are a lot more skilled, I even forgot about a steering wheel. Ooops.
Nathan put both cars together to make a train. I love how his 2 year old mind works.
This is Hayden. “Hayden, Hayden, Hayden”…..is all we heard about the next day. She put her arm around Lydia this night and they became best buds for the evening. Hayden is (8) or almost 8 and is such a sweet heart. Lydia decided to be part of the Robertson family this night and I got my first glimpse into her teenage years, where being with friends is so much cooler than with her Mom & Dad. She had a blast…..and the next day she was smiling ear to ear, the kind of smile you can’t seem to wipe off after a good date. :)
Two days later we celebrated Memorial Day with friends & a barbecue. Check out Lydia and her little boy posse. She’s always been out numbered around here and she doesn’t seem to mind. These three boys are all 2 years old and such fun buddies!
The Sorenson’s signed up to bring to feed the Elders and they fit in well at the kids table. :)
Nathan, Guy Guy & Owen.
Finally, some more girls….meet Emily and Emily! These 2 precious babies are 3 months and are as sweet as can be!
Now this picture melts my heart. Lydia was so content and taking her baby holding job so seriously, and Guy is the most handsome big brother around, don’t ya think?
I made this Stained Glass Window Jell-O for our Memorial Day dinner. I followed this recipe here. Isn’t it so pretty! It was tasty too.
I made this salad as well. It has pecans, cranberries, feta cheese and pears…. along with a yummy dressing. Perfect for summer! Recipe is here.
We hit the pool a little late this year, in the past we’ve gone during April, but we waited until May this time around.
We usually only stay until someone has to go potty. Caden hasn’t learned to swim with his mouth closed yet, so that only lasts about an hour.
A pool all to themselves….now is that the life or what?
I’ve finally made some time to get in some summer reading. This is a great book….I’m half way through it and enjoying it. Lydia has joined in reading with me as well. She crawls up on my bed when I read, with her stack of book and makes up her own words. Its a great sight to see. Our library is doing a reading incentive program and if she reads 20 books this summer she earn some fun things.
Our first Summer flick was The Avengers. We went with our friends, Conni & Dylan. We laugh a lot when those two are around…and man is that one action packed movie. I loved The Hulk…but would definitely want to be Iron man if I had the choice, just in case you were wondering. Ha ha.
We have been consumed with watching the NBA playoffs this summer. Our young OKC team has been amazing to watch!!! They have had the toughest route to the championship out of any team (according to Tyson)…., the Mavericks, the Lakers and the Spurs…and on they go to the NBA finals. Sweet!!!!
Go Thunder!!!
