Beginning of March, 2012:
I've felt really strongly in my new calling that I need to take really good care of the primary teachers and other workers. I have been in almost all of there shoes during the last few years. I've served as pianist, teacher (twice), activity days leader, chorister, nursery music person and now secretary.
I've learned a lot from the 3 different wards and sisters I've worked with. One thing I've realized is the teachers don't get a lot of appreciation, they come, quietly serve and goabout there business. So I've taken them under my wing and I've been trying really had to help them feel love and up to date with everything going on else where.
One thing I've begun are teacher appreciation gifts. We have 24 workers total.
Did you know A&W Cream Soda has CAFFEINE in it? I had no clue. Oooops!!! Mistake number one, I make them all the time, but usually not the same one twice. I didn't realize it until that evening and just happening to be reading the left over can. So sorry! I won't hand out any more caffeinated beverages again at church. You have my word.
I also made this for our wonderful Primary Pianist, Sister Bell. First because it was her birthday and second because she is wonderful and I love her to death! The keys are fashioned out of Kit-Kats.
I got this next idea from my sister Heather's primary. They are for all the subs and other great people that 'POP' into primary and help us out. I keep them in the closet at church so they are on hand and always ready to go.
March 27, 2012: With that all said...... I have recently had to wave goodbye to Primary (3 months later) and have joined the ranks in Young Women's presidency. This is the mutual theme this year, I just love it to pieces already and have been thinking about it lots. I know I have loads to learn. I have not attended Young Women's since I graduated High school with all my Pleasant Valley ward girls. Man, how I loved those days. I hope and pray I can help the girls have an equally wonderful experience as the one I did.
When I told Lydia I won't be in Primary anymore she gave me the saddest look followed by a sweet hug and said, "Mom, who will I wave to?" I will miss watching her sit with her sunbeam class and those ear to ear grins. But I know she is in amazing hands.

Laura you will be fantastic in Yw's! The girls are just gonna love you and your bubbly personality. I love all of your creative ideas for the primary teachers. I remember being in nursery in our old ward and the feeling of being unappreciated...now that Brynlee is in nursery I try to make the effort for her teachers to know how much they are appreciated!
C'est vraiment super ce que tu as fait avec le piano, et les petits cadeaux... mais on sait tous que les Jeunes filles vont t'aimé, parce que tu es génial...
Congratulations on your calling! YW's is a lot of fun... and a lot of work. :) The girls will LOVE you. What group are you over? You will do such a great job! Loved all of your primary ideas.
