We partied hard on Valentines day this year. I really do love this holiday. My family knows I love them, I tell them every day, multiple times but I love that we have a special day to emphasize it even more.
I wanted Lydia to be able to give her friends Valentines this year, so I planned a little party with our play group friends.
We decorated these milk jugs, kissed a frog while wearing lip stick, danced, passed out valentines and ate lots of goodies. My apartment would explode with 20 toddlers and their Moms so we held the party at the church. My sweet friends helped me, it would have been a lots of work by myself.
Our sweet group shot! What a group of sweeties. Yep, we should have gotten one with the Mom's....I wasn't thinking. Lydia knows what camera to look at, I've got that girl trained.
One of her best girl friends, Kinley. These 2 girls adore each other, it makes me happy!
The rest of the day I spent cooking, cleaning and getting things ready for a special dinner for my family and the missionaries. It turned out great! We exchanged gifts and put ourselves in a sugar coma after a delicious meal.
Lydia helped me get the table ready while Tyson was off doing some work with the Elders. She's the best!
Tyson bought me this cute itty bitty Aloe vera plant! I've always wanted one. Grandpa & Grandma Selman had a HUGE one growing up, he healed many of my wounds, and I think of them when I look at it. I hope this little baby grows. That's the plan as long as I don't kill it. I get a new plant every year for Valentines and well, I don't have any to show for. My track record isn't so great. Things are hopefully about to change.
Lydia got a snow white barbie from me. Her collection is almost complete....only 2 more. We are still on the hunt for Mulan & Jasmine. Those girls are hard to get a hold of.
Tyson got an OU tie from Lydia and a notebook of reasons why I love him. I've been working on it since August. I wish it was full, but that's not the case. I will keep working on it and hide it around the house for him to occasionally find.
I made homemade Cherry Limeades. They were DELICIOUS! I will make them again for sure!!!!
The missionaries got a box of chocolates! Mmmm!
My meal turned out great. We had breakfast food for breakfast. But we went for some meat for dinner instead, Tyson's request since extra men were joining us.
It was beef dip, with swiss cheese on YUMMY bread. I made the layered Jell-O too. It was looking perfect until Tyson helped out with the last layer and poked a hole in it. Ooops, but oh well. I didn't care, still tasted so good!!!!

Guinto, Lydia & Shumway.
Tyson bought Lydia this purple shirt with a build in necklace all on his own. SHE LOVED IT! I had a shirt that is similar and she always tries to wear it.
It was a Valentines day to remember, lots of work & lots of fun, I slept well that night! We had so much fun with friends and laughed a lot with the missionaries over. But the best part was getting to show my love to these 2. I know I am so very blessed to be a wife and a mother and I am grateful to have those roles in my life!

Okay..... I am ready for you to move back so we can have some of those parties for our kids here. :)So much fun!!
What a wonderful Valentine's day you had. I think it is so neat that you organized a Valentine party for the little kids in your ward and that you had the missionaries over for dinner. Way to go!
