Lydia was in her bed, her version of the story went like this:
Mom: Lydia what happened?
L: Lydia fell off da couch? I so sad.
Mom: I'm sorry. Are you going to be ok?
L: My arm hurts. Don't touch it.
Mom: Can I see it?
L: No. (hiding under blanket.)
Mom: Can I kiss it all better?
L: No. It hurting.
Mom: Can I get you anything to help make it feel better?
L: Just my Dad.
Some IB profin came next, lots of kisses and she then she quickly fell asleep.
Tyson did not see it happen. He was sweetly cleaning our home. He was in our bedroom vacuuming and didn't even hear it. He found Lydia next to the arm of the couch on the floor, crying. He said it took a lot of time for him to console her. She was in a lot of pain.
Lydia and Tyson at the Youth Conference performance during intermission.
I made her a little sling...and it helped a little.
I took her into the Dr. on Saturday and she has a distal radius fracture in her right arm. It was a little bit bruised and swollen on her wrist, but that is all I could tell.
She was a tough girl at the Dr's, they gave her a splint, a sling, lots of stickers and lots of attention....ha ha....at one point she whispered to me, "Mom, I so happy" with a big smile on her face.
Anyone else do this when they were a little girl? It was a hit!
The new X-rays (5 days later) showed the fracture MUCH worse. Check it out. Breaks my heart.
We went in for a hard cast on Tuesday...it took a few hours (and was during nap time) but she did great. She focused her mind on the fact it got to be PINK and that is all she talked about. I tried to sway her decision but it wasn't happening.
The orthopedic had to place the bone and it was hard to watch, I couldn't even reach her other hand to hold it. I would have been tempted to leave the room if Tyson had been there. But she did alright, I knew she was in pain and wanted to cry but the DR. knew what he was doing and it was good.
They took another X-ray WITH the cast on. Looks pretty good to me.
We are home. Her cast is all blingged out, (not a word) but it is. She hardly notices it at all. Doesn't talk about it, mention it or complain at all. I have the best girl out there! I really do. I love her so much.
Don't have a definite time line yet but we go back in next week for a smaller cast (below the elbow) and then we will go from there. I am just happy it is on the way to healing itself.
Thank you for all the phone calls, emails and texts. We have felt the love!
