Anyways, she adores them, but the obsession didn't begin until about 2 weeks ago.
Lydia has been a binkie girl all 2 years of her life, but it was getting out of hand, I resorted to only giving them for nap/bed times but I noticed her sneaking them, hiding them, and wanting them all the time. I was tired of looking for them, fed up with getting up in the night to assist with finding them and one morning after a walk with a friend. I said, "Today is the day, we are saying goodbye to binkies." I did it, I took them all, put them in a zip lock, right in front of her and told her that, "they were going bye bye" and I took them outside to the car and was giving them to the babies.
I have NEVER seen such a sad little girl in all my life. She cried like I had just taken away her very best friend. It broke my heart. I cuddled her, gave her some milk and a sucker to try and console her. It was pretty intense. I almost caved and gave her back one when she had trouble sleeping but I just pictured her sad face and didn't want to be responsible for that again.
Well, 2+weeks have passed and my girl survived! She totally understood and never asked for them at all. She was sad about when we told Daddy and called Aunt Sarah to share the news, but she her quickly replaced the void in her life with her ShaNay-Nays.
Let me tell you, they not only eat meals with us, go for outings, they do everything, even say prayers. I think it is cute because she treats them like I treat her, she reads to them, cuddles them, sings songs.....etc. I found her in her room tucking them in to bed with a book. It melted my heart.
