About a week ago experienced our very first earthquake. Tyson, Lydia and I were all sitting on the couch together, it was 9:06 a.m. on a Wednesday morning. We heard a loud noise and the ceiling shook, at first it sounded like the neighbors above us were doing some aerobics and then as if a big truck rammed into our building. It shook a distinct 3 shakes, back and forth and back again. I questioned, "Is this an earthquake?" Then we all stood up and Tyson said, "maybe we should get under the table", we took one step forward and it stopped.
Lydia asked, "Was that? Was that?" She could feel it and knew something strange had also occurred. Afterwards we felt a little bit off balanced, it was nothing like I have ever experienced.
It was 4.3 on the Richter scare, our pictures didn't fall off the walls, we just had a good shake. A few miles away a building on OU campus had to be evacuated because it cracked up the side.
In just over a year Oklahoma has experienced an intense ice storm, crazy flash floods, a tornado a few miles from my home and now an earthquake. I am grateful we have been safe and protected. It has been a good kick in the pants to get even more prepared for natural disasters. This place is crazy!

I'm so glad you guys have been safe!! I can't believe how many "natural disasters" have occured in one year!
Oh you make me laugh - "This place is crazy!" It is crazy, maybe that's why I just thought the building I was in at the time had some freaky air-conditioning.
You're right though about getting prepared, Carlin and I have been talking about it a lot and really feel strongly that we need to do all we can to be prepared and do it quickly!
