2.7.2010 {word}

"Berk, Saaaay Baptism." Asked his Dad at church, and little red headed chunk of a Berk actually could and at only 18 months. We were all impressed and laughed because we doubted.

Well I got to thinking and my little princess has been spitting out new words left and right this past week. She'll try to repeat just about anything we ask her and it is hilarious to hear. Made a list of ALL her words.

dada, no no dada,
uh-oh, bub--ble, bottle,
eh, brrrrr, you, HOT HOT,
hi
nigh nigh, shoes, mum, down,
O kay, hat,
nana, UP, car,
yes, tank you, dye dye,
pretty pretty.

Notice Baptism isn't on the list...but heck the next word we
teach her is going to be Confirmation. Eat that one up Berk!

Listened to this talk on my IPOD while preparing dinner this past week, here is a snippet!
The Tongue of Angels
Jeffrey R. Holland. April 2007.

We must be so careful in speaking to a child. What we say or don't say, how we say it and when is so very, very important in shaping a child's view of himself or herself. But it is even more important in shaping that child's faith in us and their faith in God.

Be constructive in your comments to a child—always. Never tell them, even in whimsy, that they are fat or dumb or lazy or homely. You would never do that maliciously, but they remember and may struggle for years trying to forget—and to forgive. And try not to compare your children, even if you think you are skillful at it. You may say most positively that "Susan is pretty and Sandra is bright," but all Susan will remember is that she isn't bright and Sandra that she isn't pretty. Praise each child individually for what that child is, and
help him or her escape our culture's obsession with comparing, competing, and never feeling we are "enough."

The Gospel is true eh and I LOVE it!!!!

I pretty much love Lydia. She's way awesome. I loved seeing her again when you guys came to Utah over the holidays. She's going from little baby to little person - so fun!
