Bangkok, Thailand

We had a full day in Bangkok. It was about a two hour drive from the port. We had another great driver to take care of us. Lydia slept the entire way and we listened to his classic American music he put on for us. (Michael Jackson, YMCA, Beach Boys....etc.)

Tyson booked a gorgeous hotel to stay in for the night. It came highly recommended by some other cruisers. And they filmed Hangover 2 here....haven't seen the movie. But still cool. The view was fantastic. We filled our backpacks and only took the bare necessities with us.

We left our bags behind and then ventured out for the day to see as much as we could. We had a quick walk but very cool walk to the river where we jumped on boat and it took us to all the major hot spots. The flower market and all the temples....and more.

A flower shop called "Nana's" too fun.

SOOOO many fresh flowers in every form and variety. Where do they all come from?

Wat Arun is a buhhdist temple in Bangkok. It was incredible to see all the intricate architect and the materials they use.

If you look close you can see broken china plates on the side of the structure pieced together.

Our friend Barney served his mission here and told us we had to try Mango & Sticky rice. It was delicious!!!

This is a little school room.

We waited to go inside to see the worlds largest reclining buddha in a place called Wat Pho. It is 150 feet long.

Toes.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand died at the age of 88, on 13 October 2016, after a long illness. A year-long period of mourning was subsequently announced.

We wanted to walk to the Grand Palace from here but this man insisted on taking us in his Tuk Tuk. I am so glad we went. It was thrilling, fast, nail biting scary at times and memory we won't forget.

The Grand palace was closed for tours by 3:00 p.m. and had been really crowded due to all the mourners coming from all over Thailand to pay respects to the Kings body.

This was a wall decorated with bikes. Not to rent....just decoration. Ha ha.

We spent the rest of our evening getting massages, and our feet chewed on by fish.

I am soooo ticklish.

Local people stopped to stare at us. We were quite a spectacle....I'm sure.

This part was much more relaxing!!!

This guy made us the cutest little personalized passport holders. I love them.

Elephant pants are sold all over but Tyson insisted I wait until we reached Thailand to buy some authentic ones and so we did. They are so comfortable and I'm wearing some right now in case you wanted to know. Ha ha.

We went out to eat and we loved all the Thai food that we ordered and then wandered the shops and watched some fun street performers before getting a taxi back to our hotel.

Tyson and Lydia went down for a late night swim in the pool.

Next up: Another day in Thailand
