Kidzania

Kidzania came highly recommended to us and it exceeded all of our expectations. It is a little mini city built just for kids where they can go and work at different jobs and learn how the 'real' world works.  It looked adorable....like a mini Tokyo and they had over 50 jobs to choose from. Everything ran so efficiently and we were so impressed.

The first job and her favorite was a security officer. She learned all about it and then performed some tasks. After her 30 minute shift she was paid in Kidzania money.

While Lydia was working I wandered, took pictures and read my novel. Tyson read his book too and wandered the mall. We were there from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. when they close and get ready for the afternoon group. It was so much fun peeking into the shop windows and watching the kids hard at work. These little cosmetologists were bowing to their customers. They wore the masks that their parents wear too. Love it.

This was a hamburger shop. At every occupation they had hair nets and uniforms for the kids to wear. They used real food and got to eat it when they were through. What kids don't love to dress and cook with edible food.

These little ladies were working in a Sushi shop. I wanted to join them.

A seamstress. I wonder what they were making. I didn't stick around long enough to find out.

Here is Lydia and her crew picking up cash from a local business.

Nothing I love better than a sign like this!

Soft serve ice cream shop. Mmmm!

Some of the occupations were more popular than others and you had to reserve those ones, such as the hospital. They had an ER room, a nursery and two surgical rooms. All of the vehicles worked and the kids got to ride in them to go help the community.

The police kept the city very safe.

CPR training.

The staff were so friendly, happy and kind, it reminded me of Disney workers. Always smiling!

Lydia helped put out a fire with real water! Wow!

While she was rescuing people this little chemist was doing some experiments.

After she got paid for her fire station duties Lydia went to work at the local Bakery. She made croissants and they were delicious!

She didn't have much of a break, in between each job she would get paid, deposit her money in the bank and go take another shift. This here is the Publishing company and she designed a Japanese Magazine.

They had a chapel for kids to get married and these two wee things had a whole wedding party. We all watched them walk through town after the wedding.

The airport was awesome....it looked real inside. Lydia chose learning to be a pilot over an attendant....it was a tough decision.

Computer programmers.

The shop where the children could spend their money.

Airport security.

We could watch the children on these screens.

The Nursery....the nursers were bowing to their babies. What service!

Lydia frequented the bank. The kids could work in the bank and help the other children.

Lydia opened a checking account and after she deposited her money she walked out of the bank with wide eyes and said, "MOM! That boy took ALL MY MONEY!" I was laughing.

The Dole Factory.

The auto mechanic shop, DMV & gas station.

The mail carriers came to the vet to delivery some packages.

Inventors inventing.

Some of the occupations ended up being in Japanese but Lydia didn't mind too much. The workers spoke to her in as much English as they could and she said she still enjoyed herself.

She operated on this patient.

Shopping stressed her out to the max. I wasn't allowed in their to help her figure out what she could afford and it was hard for her to spend her money after just earning it. She wanted to save it all.

Her last job was at the veterinarian clinic.

The animals could move, had heart beats, even poop and they had to figure out what was wrong with them and then help them.

Her Dad showed her how to make a withdrawal at the ATM. She made a lot of Kidzania money that day.

I loved that she got to have this experience. She played hard, worked hard and learned SO much about the workings of the world. I love this kid! And next time you are in Tokyo make sure you take your kids here!
