One morning while Tyson went to the Temple Lydia and I ventured out on our own. Tokyo feels like such a safe city. People leave their bikes unlocked....and there is no litter or graffiti. The only thing I was nervous about was that I would get lost and not be able to find my way back to the hotel.
We found this little park right in the middles of some buildings. Lydia really wanted to stop and play. It was refreshing to sit and fun to watch the other families there have fun, grandparents with grandchildren, little families playing baseball, children chasing each other and mothers loving their babies.
I had my zoom lens and a caught a few good shots of some Mothers. We may dress differently, feed our children different foods and live in an entirely different part of the world but we really have so much in common.
On our adventure we found another little Temple where people come to pray.
We did a little bit of shopping.
We spotted the Tokyo Tower in the distance. Later on this day we had planned to go and find it.
A little bakery. Mmmm! The counter was filled with cookies.
A more modern looking home. Something we couldn't get over was how close the buildings are to each other.
Window pic. I was there too! Ha ha.
Tyson was back at the hotel waiting for our return.
We relaxed a bit....ate some dinner and then headed out again to see the Tokyo tower.
It was built in 1958 and it is similar to the Eiffel tower.
We went to the first lookout point and then Tyson wanted to pay and wait in line to go up to the very highest observation level. It was AMAZING! They only let a certain amount of people up at a time. I took a bazillion pictures and none of them captured how HUGE and beautiful this city really is. But it was like nothing I have ever seen before and here are two of my best shots so I can remember it.
It was such a magical night. Lydia loved staying up way passed her bedtime and then we walked back to the subway station in the empty, quiet streets of Tokyo......in the rain. It was another favorite sight seeing moment for me. I never want to forget it.
