Check out the gas pumps in Tokyo, they are hanging from the ceilings. I honestly never got tired of just walking and wandering because there was always something new to be seen and discovered. One thing that we loved and did often was explore through the little markets and buy new food to try.
On our last afternoon in Tokyo we decided to go back to the Shibuya area to do some more exploring.
To put it nicely our shopping on Guam is very limited and nothing to brag about. Tokyo on the other hand has everything and every store like the Under Armour store was 4 floors high or more.
This little shop was so packed full of stuff that you had to walk sideways and single file to get through it.
I bought some of my favorite make up remover at LUSH.
I love this stuff. Try it!
Lydia tried on a designer Hello Kitty mask. I never saw people wearing these fancy ones but they sell them all over.
We saw the most hilarious and creative cell phone cases. They made me laugh.
SO much girly pink in this store....Lydia enjoyed trying on a few different tiaras.
We found a Krispy Creme and enjoyed every single bite. I forgot how good those glaced donuts are. Mmm!
Tyson loves his shoes. We went to a few shoe stores but he always ends up picking shoes for me to try on. Ha ha.
These were some sweet Nikes that just had arrived and they had the Japan Cherry blossoms. They didn't have my size or Tyson would have insisted on getting them for me.
The racks for woman clothing in this store was so fancy.
I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy a children's book. This bookstore had a huge children's section and browsed and recognized many of the titles.
They read from the back of the book to the front and the lines go vertically instead of horizontal.
Rotating meat. This thing was HUGE. My picture doesn't do it justice.
We made our way back to the famous Shibuya Crossing.
We scouted out and luckily scored the best seats in the 2 story Starbucks store and we sat and enjoyed some drinks while doing some major people watching.
We stayed there for quite a while before making our last walk across the busiest intersection in the world.
We were starring at the train map at the station trying to figure out the best way to get home when a man came up to us and offered to help. He told us to not take the train and to take the bus instead. Then he told us to follow him and we did. He took us directly to the bus we needed to get on and told the driver what stop to make sure we got off at. He was an angel. We hadn't even asked him to help us. I love that their are kind and thoughtful people in this world.
We had an ongoing game we played it all trip long we named it Jappleganger. We just happened to both spot Japanese people that looked just like people we knew. We spotted Sarah's Jappleganger on the bus. Do you see her on the right? I saw Aunt Bev at the temple, Courtney at the zoo, Taylor Swift at the Tokyo tower, Napolean Dynamite walking down the street, Jimmy Fallon on a billboard....and more. Many more. It was crazy and easy with SOOO many people everywhere and it always made us happy when we spotted someone "we knew". Ha ha. We saw Lainey, Ty Smith, Travis Albert, Paul Conrad, Julia Stiles....and more. I tell you. Japplegangers were everywhere!
Lydia and I went down to our dining room for the very last time. I had the soup and salad bar and she had the pasta. It was fun to talk just the two of us. I love this girl. Traveling with her is a dream.
Our concierge helped us call a Taxi to take us to the airport the following morning. I loved being in the car on the opposite side of the road. It messed with our head.
We flew a few hours north to Sappora, Japan and changed planes and barely made our flight to head back to Guam. We were enjoying our Japanese curry and lost track of time. Ooops.
We flew right over the southern part of Guam, we flew over the base, Lydia's school, our home and Tyson's Navy Hospital. It was our first time seeing this beautiful island from the sky and in the daytime.
We flew in at 6:00 p.m. and our sweet friends Andy and April were waiting to pick us up. Tyson and Lydia got to go home, I got detained at the immigration office. I forgot to pack my green card. Not a smart move on my part. Tyson had to go home and pick it up, drive back to the airport to get me, then we drove all the way to Talafofo to pick up our Johne boy. He stayed at our Bishops house with 4 boys while we were gone.
Oh and yes I got one last fill of cute Japanese babies on the flight home. I was tempted to reach over the seat to bring him back to play with us. Ha ha. We did a lot of peek a boo with him. So sweet!
It was such a great trip. I wasn't ready to come back. I'm positive we only saw a small portion of Tokyo, But we loved what we got to see and I would go back in a heart beat.
