A treasure and new life

One afternoon we were exploring an old antique shop near our home. I looked down and saw this beautiful crocheted blanket. We were in a back room and it was shoved under a table in an old dirty box. I picked it up and it was heavy and huge. I loved it instantly but knew Tyson wouldn't think much of it so I snapped a picture and kept on going.

Days later I couldn't stop thinking about that beautiful find. The store is only open 3 days a week so I waited and then went back to find it. It was still there where I left it and I took the tag and blanket up to the front desk to pay and the little old lady told me it was, "One Ninety Seven." I asked her to clarify the price and she said "One dollar and nine seven cents." Perfect, I said and I paid for it and took it home.

I gave it a good wash in my new washing machine. And with an extra detergent pod it came out looking even more beautiful. I would love to know the history of who made this and when, who was it for, who used it and why didn't it get passed down a grandchild who could treasure it.

I love the bright vibrant colors. For now I keep it on our guest bed.

I love the challenge of the hunt and obviously getting a good deal, but finding old unwanted items, bringing them home, cleaning them up and giving them new purpose in my very favorite thing about thrift shopping. I also love having things that are one of kind that have a little story to them and this is definitely one of those.
