By pure luck we ended up in the right village and at the right market where we met our guide who took us on a tour of the market. Here we shopped for the ingredients and were able to ask our English speaking guide ALL the questions in the world.
These daily offerings are a big part of their worshiping rituals. We learned all about them and then noticed them everywhere.
This seamstress placed hers on her work space.
I've now been to markets in Tokyo, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia....etc and this one was very different and unique.
If a tourist took a picture of me hauling my trash out to the curb I would probably think they were nut too and give them a similar expression. Ha ha.
We ate this for breakfast and learned that it is called Snake fruit and it is delicious.
We cooked and ate, cooked some more and ate some more and man alive was it ever a neat experience.
We prepared the food with two Canadian girls from Edmonton and an older couple from Australia. Meeting new people while traveling is always a treat.
I didn't take pictures of all the finished products but here is one.
Making the spring roll wrappers was a fun new skill to learn.
They sent us one our way with all of the recipes to take home.
After all that hard work we treated ourselves to another massage. This time a full body massage. My first ever.
And then we stayed a while longer and some of us got pedicures, feet rubs....etc.
Scooters. Everywhere.
We saw a monkey on the balcony of our hotel. Eeeek. It was cool but then as it kept making its way to us we kind of freaked out.
It had a baby hanging on to her stomach too.
You better believe we ended our day with a dip in the pool.
Great first day!
