Lydia awoke one morning and told us that her head was itchy. We quickly investigated and there were little black bugs crawling all over her scalp. Ew! Ew! Ew! Right?
I wasn't sure if it was lice or not. I've never seen lice and I guess what I did assume about lice was that they were little and white. My bff and neighbor had some treatment shampoo so before the stores even opened we got to work killing all the lice we could.
We treated her hair.
Washed bedding.
Washed up and bagged dress up clothes.
Called the gaggle of girls who played at our home the previous day.
Canceled plans for Johne's birthday party for that same day.
And all while itching our own heads. I really thought I had it too. I couldn't stop itching.
We got out the razor and clipped Johne's hair nice and short for school.
Then I got to work checking Lydia's hair. I killed 28 bugs the first day.
Ew! Ew! Ew!
Then everyday after that I killed a handful more.
We did this white sheet trick the school nurse told us about. You shake you head and see what falls out. Ew! But it worked a little.
It was frustrating, I won't lie. I looked through her hair 3 or 4 times a day. I was slow and meticulous.
Cats can't get lice. Just in case you were wondering.
We thought we got rid of it. But it came back on Lydia's birthday. Poor kiddo. Lice is no fun. Sorry if this post totally grossed you out or got you scratching your head. I know the feeling well.
