Stake Girls Camp Crafts

I was called and asked to plan and organize all the crafts for Stake Girls camp. It was the week I had booked our plane tickets, but I still offered to do it as long as someone else was able to carry out the crafts when I left the island.

It was overwhelming at first only because we don't have one decent craft store on island and I didn't know where to even begin. I eventually got to work and I used resources we had here like Coconuts (found on the side of the road) and Bamboo (located in the jungle) and the rest of the supplies I got donated from neighbors and ward members and my dear friend Amazon came through with everything else. I love Amazon. I couldn't live on Guam without him.

My company was around when I was finishing up getting ready and they all helped me out a lot with the prep. I was so grateful.

Allan, Myranda, Morgan and the Talafofo Elders helped me cut some bamboo for one of the projects and then my sister in law helped me used the circular saw to get them to my desired lengths.

I think they turned out just darling!!!

I also used this variation with tin cans. I think it is pretty fun too!

I planned crafts that I thought the girls could use in their rooms, be creative with and give away. Here are a few of the things we did. Excuse the junky iphone photos. I included some links too in case you want to file any away for your next girl camp, activity days activity or family reunion.

Pearl Rings.LINK.  These are sooooo cute. I love em!

Earbud you tube tutorial. LINK.

My own idea. No link. But we collected coconuts and each girl spray painted it and then wrote a favorite quote on it with Sharpie Paint pens.

This one that I did as an example has started to sprout. It is pretty beat up but it is President Monson's quote. ;)

Another own idea of mine. No link. Sorry. We used watercolor paper, water color and I had some stencils pre-cut for everyone to use.

Giant Coloring sheets. Link here.  I printed 9 sheets for the girls to color in their down time. They each cost $1 to print at a local store here on Guam.

Greeting cards. Link to another blog post of mine. Each girl got to make three cards and received three envelopes so they could give them away or save them when needed.

And lastly Morgan helped me start 50 boon doggles for the girls to work on throughout the week. And I when I say Morgan and I, I pretty much just mean Morgan, I think she did 48 and I did 2. She is amazing!!!
