Marine and all of her roommates, their friends and random girls I'd never met were piling stuff they didn't need (or couldn't fit in their suitcases) in the back of my truck. I drove home feeling like I had honesty just stolen all of this really great loot. Talk about SCORE!
This isn't even half of it...I got shampoo, lotions, 5 boxes of Q-tips, pots & pans, candle's, batteries, school supplies, stamps....it was crazy!!! BUT we are very grateful. I thought garage sale shopping was a good deal..but nothing can beat FREE! Oh and the Catherine's gave us even MORE...cleaning supplies, speakers, toys, books a toddler bed, food storage.....etc.

This basket was in Marine's apartment. At first glance after it was offered to me I winced, smiled and then said..."uh...no thanks" but then I looked at it again and thought, "How could I turn this into something I'd use?" I took it home....made some changes......and it now looks like...

I put away what I could use and I still have a big pile to give to Aubrey, clothes for my sisters, toys for the Nursery and the rest will go to Goodwill.
PS. My favorite thing I received was a bike. I haven't owned my own
bike since I was 10, I took it for my first ride last night and felt like a kid again. It's awesome and super cute too!

So, "a tisket-a tasket" reminds me of Gilmore Girls....and this is the kind of crafty stuff I want to do! Find something that isn't super appealing, but could be very functional...and then make it both functional AND appealing! Awesome!
how AWESOME...I am totally jealous...I should find that student housing around here somewhere!! And you are so creative to figure out how to use things and change things to make them dang cute, that basket is a super cute idea!
I love the basket redo. I never would have thought to paint it, but it looks fabulous. I can't wait to see a picture of you on your new bike.
